Nothing elite there guys
Elite, by definition must be sustained. Stidham looked elite against our defense last year. Does that make him elite?
Nobody said he is elite, you'd have to be Andrew Luck or something for anyone to consider you elite after a year.
But when respected football minds say he looks like Montana and Mahomes while he's leading the league in scoring, I'd say he played elite

If you follow the 49ers.. we've gotten excited about Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, Kaep, Mullens, Jimmy G and now Purdy.
I'm just saying the odds are not in favor of just picking up where we left off.. and Purdy coming off major surgery to boot. If Purdy wasn't injured i would feel better.
But right now, i just see the QB position as a big ?
The only one I was excited about was Kap, Jimmy & Purdy. I personally never thought any of the rest were capable of being elite.
Well Purdy has played elite throughout his 6 games in the regular season and if not elite in the playoffs, very damn good (several rookie records). So in my opinion, he's the only one that has shown anything like that on the roster.
im tired of mediocre QBs and above average qb play on our guys best days. I want elite and nothing else. Keep looking until we do.
is this an obnoxious moment ?
He said Purdy was elite in the regular season, which is 100% true.
He played elite. We've gone from I see a big ? mark to not wanting to give him his dues
Pretending that we are calling him elite
Is this an obnoxious moment?

I wonder if the narative around Brock would have changed if he didn't get hurt vs the Eagles and didn't play well and we still lost. Because he didn't play that good vs the Cowboys in the divisional RD. No TD passes and we only scored 19 points. Luckily for us Prescott was horrible.

I still would've considered him the starter, after all he was a rookie 7th round pick at some point he was bound to lose. Just like at some point Lance won a game. Lol

I don't think the narritive would have changed. If he didn't get hurt and didn't play well, I think getting us to the NFCCG would have been enough for him to keep the job in '23. Now, if he struggles in '23, then I think, they put in Trey and hope he goes in and does a better job. JMO.

That's why I specifically said - he isn't an elite player. He played at an elite level in his short sample size.
for example, Joe Flacco isn't/wasn't an elite QB, right? But the year they won the Super Bowl - he went on a terror and played at a ridiculously high level (elite) and lead them to a Super Bowl victory. His stats and everything back that up. If I'm not mistaken he had like 11 TDs and 0 INT in those playoff games.
it's the same thing. He played at an elite level for a stretch of time but isn't an elite player because he couldn't sustain it like the greats do. That's why I want to see what Purdy looks like going forward. Nothing loose about that.

Purdy didn't have his best game but he played really damn good against a top 3 defense in the nfl and the second best pass rush.
this is why using just stat lines with no context is ridiculous. I think Purdy really won over John and Kyle because of his performance in the playoffs. He didn't come close to having a bad game - he actually set nfl records or matched them.
You're playing the best teams on the biggest stage and delivered.

Doesnt read as triggered. More like let's wait and get a bigger sample. I would agree.
Been down this path with Kap and Jimmy. Need larger samples. Stuff Brock succeeded at was definitely more repeatable since it wasn't based on improv but still demands a larger sample.
Cautiously optimistic.
He said that he would lose his job if he didn't inrove and correct deficiencies.
Every player has deficiencies that they never correct and lots don'tosw their job.
If he plays as he did all last year, why should he lose his job?
You also called him a flash in the pan.

Against the Cowboys he moved the chains and did what he asked to. The Cowboys run D stunk and we wanted to control the game and keep it out of their top rated offense. McGlinchy was also being tossed around that game badly.
