I don't understand the cousins thing. Why would we want him and how could we possibly afford him?

I have no doubt that he will be completely healed before he goes on the field. If nothing else, that is what the Darnold signing was all about.

Yup. Cousin thing is a fake news I think.

I think I heard Maiocco, Biderman or Crocky saying this was a real thing. I don't see how it could happen but you could just see Kyle wanting to prove to the world he was right all along in hitching his wagon to Cousins.

I can't figure out how it would be feasible? Especially since cousins restructured his contract. I haven't read the details on it but at a glance, it would generate a ton of dead cap for minnesota ($48M) idk why they'd even try to move on from him this season.

If there are talks, I assume there is a way to do it? Sounds like it would be bad for both parties.

We could actually. He would only count 10 million toward our cap this year. He's a free agent next year. So if his deal was reworked it would be easy to fit him in TBH.

Not saying we should do it. Just saying it would be easier than you may think

He has a base salary of 10 million. But a cap hit of 20 million. Vikings would take a 40 million hit if they traded him. so its not happening.

They are taking a 28 mil hit next year regardless. So if they designate it as post june they are in the same exact boat. Plus my initial post was in response to how we could afford him.

I can't see how it would work out either, honestly but I guess it really was the buzz there. So there must be some truth to it...at least exploring.
All this financial discussion of Cousins shows how important it is that the 49ers have a couple of young QBs, one with a proven record of outstanding play, at very low contract levels.

Agree about the importance of a young QB. I can see the 49ers drafting another - possibly - 7th round QB because of that, vs the chances of getting a Kirk
Cousins in some sort of cap/draft pick trade. Given they had such great success with getting Purdy, if I was Kyle, I'd roll the dice again with another 7th rounder that has the same skill set that Purdy. Maybe lightning strikes twice in the same spot? Also, god forbid, we have another season where another 3 or 4 QB's go down, at least our 5th QB isn't as different as Purdy. I'm assuming here, that Purdy will be healthy and start as QB1.

Very very low contract levels. If anyone wants to feel sorry for a QB, it should be Brock Purdy, the kid is set to make just under a million this season with a 20k signing bonus or whatever. While QB2 is set to make $9 mil and QB3 set to make $2.9 mil.

It's very very hard to have a good team overall when your paying a qb such a large salary. I genuinely believe only one qb in the league is worth that and it's Mahomes. He is just capable of overcoming average play around him. It's very very rare and he's the exception.

outside of him, every other qb should make quite a bit less. Idc which qb you bring up, none are worth nearly as much as Mahomes is.

i love the fact that murray is such a huge cap on the cards. Muhahahah

I was reading that there is a special pool of money for players who out perform their contract, when it's not much money, and Purdy should make a few extra mil this year if he gets healthy and can play.

i also hope the guy gets some endorsements going! That way when his contract is up, we can have an inkling of hood that he doesn't want the brinks truck backed up to his house.
