QB Brock Purdy Thread

I hope Brock can repeat his performance from last season because if he flounders or gets injured we have Darnold and a discouraged Trey as backups. Last season we had Trey and JG and Purdy as backups. We were in a better situation then. I'm concerned about the O line being able to protect Purdy. They' haven't played together much and unity is important for pass protection.

4 of the 5 starters from last season are back. I think they will gel much quicker than many other teams.

Also, the interior 3 were all first time starter last season. They will likely get better this season.

I think with McKivitz, pass protection wise he is not any worse than McGlinchey. It is really run blocking that he probably won't be as good.

So overall the concern is OL depth.

All those poor #5 jerseys owners... the 9ers should allow fans to return the official ones bought at the team's store to have the names replaced.

If a QB keeps winning, Kyle will do everything to keep him. Example - Jimmy G.

Agreed. His play style isn't gimmicky, so I don't worry too much about him being "figured out." He has tendencies, sure, but nothing that seems unfixable. Better movement in the pocket, and he could be even more elusive. Of course… that pocket needs to be more stable, but that isn't on Purdy.

Oh yeah, that has been evident since Purdy first went in against Miami. I love the players' culture on this team.

Agree 💯%, and to stop Brock, you have to key on him the way the Eagles did. To fix that, just hand the rock off to CMC/Deebo/Elijah/Mason. Get the defense eye's off Brock and on to the RB's then that will free Brock to do his stuff with the short passing game. My worry is his health, which you rightfully say is on Kyle to get the needed talent to protect Brock. Kyle finally has a number 1 pick next year, and he'll need it to fix the OLIne. I'm just not confident that Trent Williams will continue to play after winning a championship. I really don't. So hopefully those extra compensatory picks for losing all our coaches will help with revitalizing the OLine.

So if Brock is voted team captain this year does that say something about how the players really felt last year?
