Kaepernick was so much better than any 49ers QB that came after him. He's actually our last great QB.
Brock is better.

Hopefully Purdy puts this Alex Smith/Kaepernick/Jimmy stuff to bed and we can all conclude he's our best QB in 20+ years.
Not if you count playoffs.
And agreed on your last sentence. Super excited for Purdy to show what he has over a full season.
Jimmy was a better passer/processor, Kaepernick a better runner. They were both good in their own way.
Kaepernick played well in the playoffs. That's the difference.
Yah when the Read Option was a thing. Now it's a thing of the past. Dude barely passes for 3000 yards 21 TD's to 8 INT's are you frickin serious. You wanna discount Jimmy like he didn't do anything in the season or playoffs, yet CK also had Frank Gore and the #2 and #3 defense in the league. Lets also bring up the fact that when CK took the league by storm in 2012 he only started 7 games. Let's also bring up the fact that Jimmy didn't curl up in the fetal position the way CK did when they had to play Seattle. Like I said they were good in their own way, but you wanna knock one but not the other.
Jimmy curled up no matter who he was playing. He also never played the L.O.B like Kap did.
Did you see what Kap did in the playoffs?

Lol Alex had better passing numbers than Kap and Jimmy destroyed both.

I agree with this. However, Jimmy was exposed and so was kap. Alex should have gotten those extra shots at the SB kap got.
I think Alex was better at not being exposed as either and could have game managed at least 1 SB if he had kaps seasons as well.
Hindsight is 20/20 though.
We know Jimmy couldn't get it done, kap couldn't, Alex only got one shot.

I'm taking Kaep and Jimmy over Alex and I go back and forth between Jimmy and Kaep.
Alex left plays all over the field and our offense couldn't function against teams that could play defense. He was an overly safe checkdown artist. Good person though.

I will say this, I think the 9ers definitely win the Super Bowl in 2013 if Alex Smith started it. He definitely would've saw Maurice Hicks underneath for the walk in TD.

Man Kaepernick had 300 yards passing and 50 rushing (matching only Montana at the time). First team to have two 100 yard receivers and a 100 yard rusher in the game. 2nd highest points scored in a loss at the time. Offense wasn't the problem in the game.
I firmly believe if they don't make the switch we don't win the division and may not have made the playoffs at 10-6 losing a tiebreaker to the Vikings.
Just plugging in Smith into games from a hypthetical standpoint we might not have beat the Packers again and certainly wouldn't have beat the Falcons. Smith lead teams were like 1-21 against teams that scored 21 points or more at that point in his career. Same s**t carried over to KC.
