Anything from the real football league? You talking like Brees was taking NFL defenders' ankles.

I think most posters on here just think of him in his later years, he was mobile when he was younger, for sure
I was going to post but didn't have the energy lol, thx Phx

I'm reminded of what Walsh said of Garcia when they ask him why he had brought Garcia into the Niners camp from the CFL. Walsh said that he remembered Garcia from college playing against Walsh's college team. He thought Garcia almost single handedly beat Walsh's better team in that game. I see the same thing in Brock in those college highlight/lowlights. He knows he was going against a better college team, but that doesn't mean he's gonna lay down. The comparison is very apt to Garcia in that regard. I very sure if Walsh sees Brock he would see another Garcia too. We see him running around like a chicken. The scouts were probably thinking, this guy can't stay still long enough to make a decent throw, and a turnover machine lol

Here's one article. I'm sure there are more.

Could you imagine Walsh & Brock in the same room together? Sigh lol💓💓
For me personally. Brock has changed the dynamics for this offense. He has brought this calm effiency to running our pass offense since he stepped in TBH. Its been a while since we had that feeling. I mean we have gone from an automatic 14 plus points and a bunch of fieldgoals games team to an automatic 24 or more points sprinkled in with some fieldgoals. Thats how i felt about our offense last year compared to other years.

yeah, it just feels good when Brock is at the helm. I feel confident that our offense is going to roll. I really liked Jimmy but when he would throw it other than the middle of the field, I always kinda held my breathe.

With Brock, I'm super excited everytime the O is on the field because he does such a great job and you can feel his desire to win every down.

I think it means something for sure. A guy out there alone carrying a team. Brock never had the weapons at his disposal that the 49ers have. Everything is instantly better, in relation to what he had in college.... That has to be a safe way to evaluate talent.

I get Mac Jones type that is throwing to the best in college, and that is fine as long as your NFL team also has elite skill talent to boot. At least you can say well this guy can at least use the talent around him, but what happens to him if we get him 4+ seconds to throw the ball, or WR that get gobs of separation.

With Brock or Garcia....the only thing they can do is be as close to perfect as possible to make an underdog a threat.

I loved Walsh, I own every book he ever wrote, and kept clippings from magazines and news papers. It kinda pissed me off how the sports world mostly turned their back on him as he got older. When the York's went threw their anti-Eddie phase right before the hiring of Nolan, Walsh was one of the casualties and he no longer has access to the facility. He felt betrayed and it is a damn shame. Took me a long time to forgive that.

Aaron Rodgers was the last QB that I am aware of that he scouted, he died right around that Smith vs Rodgers debate. He thought Rodgers had generational talent was totally in his corner and publicly said as much...go figure...we went Smith.

Walsh wasn't perfect, no one is...and I poke fun at his HB/RB drafts...dude could not draft a RB but the dude was smart and way ahead of his time.

just a little tid bit... I believe Walsh, John Robinson (USC legend) and Marv Leavy( Buffalo Bills Legend) were all childhood buddies and grew up like a street over from each other. Those childhood football conversations must have been off the chains since it propelled all 3 of them to football super stardom.

Brock reminded me of Joe Cool the moment he stepped on the field. You just knew.

I didn't know the part about Walsh liking Rodgers, that's really cool. Do you have a link to anything about that that I can read?

Damn, I didn't know those guys grew up together. That's wild. they probably were crazy to hang out with as they were such perfectionists. I bet they were always super motivational to hang out with too. Marv Levy did a great job keeping his team motivated after so many straight superbowl loses.

Same, that Miami game. When ya know, ya know:). That Tampa game was the icing on the cake. 🧁 It's like where were you when, Brock stepped onto the scene? 😃 Ironic he started in a Miami game..which was Marino's team, wearing the same number...and Marino is his fave qb....kinda like, fate. 💕 Just glad Miami didn't get him though lol

"As it turns out, Brock's father Shawn is a Dolphins fan. He was a huge fan of Dan Marino, and actually watched a game from inside the hospital on the day Brock was born. He would pass on his fascination with the gunslinger to his son.

Brock was raised well after Marino retired, but that didn't stop him from being enamored with the Dolphins' great. "Dan Marino is just a winner," Brock said during an interview in 2018. "He does whatever it takes to win. He elevates his teammates' game around him. When I go back and watch his highlights and things that he did, I try to put that on how I play the game."

Not only does Purdy wear the number 13 in honor of Marino, but his first real NFL action came with his idol sitting up in one of the luxury boxes, too. It seems as though the reaction to Purdy by Dolphins fans has been mostly split, but his connection and affinity with Dan Marino could be a reason to root for him, even if you do it quietly."

Just so cool. Ya, when he came on the field the first person that crossed my mind was Joe. And hadn't had a feeling like that since the Joe/Young days. Like you just see it. It's just there. Brock owned the field. I mean, we all kinda secretly hope our next qb is the next Joe..that's such a damn high bar, that it's like ok..well that's pretty unattainable..just accept the fact that the 80s/90s are a thing of the past and there won't be anything like than again.......then BP:).

Speaking of Joe, I got a call from my sister once back in the day..she calls crying. I am like, what's going on? What happened? She was like, "Joe Montana retired!". I was like, "Well ya that sucks, he was really great.." but all the while trying to hold back a bit of a laugh cause I thought there was something srsly wrong haha. She got to meet Craig though, so not all was lost haha

Yeah, it's a completely different feeling when Brock is on the field. idk how to explain it. When I was watching him in that dolphins game, I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe his poise and it looked like he was a 10 year vet out there, felt like that too. Just felt special and I hope he is.

hahaha yeah, that's funny. When I was in Highschool, Joe Montana came to one of our home games cause we were playing Cardinal Newman and I guess he was privately coaching the QB, so he came to watch him. our whole school knew but we kept getting told to not go up to him... I was like "yeah.... riiiite. you're out of your mind if you think I'm not going to go up to him". So i sat on the visitors side and saw him with his wife and a friend of his, I kinda inched closer and then when the game ended, I walked up to him and just said i was a big fan and it's really cool to meet him - he stuck out his hand and shook my hand and said he appreciated it. I was the only person that got to meet him, he got up and left right after that and all these older men were like "can I shake your hand? I just saw you shake montanas!" and i was like get outta here. haha
Does Brock get designated as a captain this year replacing Ward? There are a couple others I think that are deserving such as Juice, CMC, Greenlaw, Deebo.
