i agree with him that a 7 step drop in preseason is an unnecessary risk.

Yea he mentioned (and has several times in the past) not loving the 49ers drop back passing attack.

If there's a flaw in Kyle's scheme that's got to be it. He's a run game genius first and foremost.

A pitch count sure the hell is a restriction. I had been the guy believing everything the FO says up until now, but damn. Another puzzle piece of the Sam Darnold signing just fell into place.

It always made sense that Darnold's signing was directly related to the fact that we had 2 QBs recovering from serious injuries. Purdy wasnt even close to cleared at the time of his signing.

To me, I think it's cool how on even the good plays - there are a lot of things he can improve upon. He will just get better and better.
I feel like he was throwing that screen away, just into the open space where no one was at. Maybe it's risking to throw away a ball like that, but I chalk it up to him just having that much vision.

He was I think as well, but I thought the same thing JTO did… put it into the ground next the TE. Just safer. Oh well, minor gripe as far as I'm concerned. He was really good at killing bad plays, especially for a rookie.

Yeah, that one didn't bother me. Interesting weird back step he kept doing though. I wonder what's that about, if it's even an issue.

Idk, the defender seemed to be right in his way. Idk if he could of done that without having to run around for a moment. If you look at where the defender is, Brock, and the TE - idk if he could hit him in the feet area. Seemed to be really well defended

It was cloudy for sure. He has the arm angle capacity to get it done though I think. No harm no foul this time regardless.

more anti-JG stuff, for the he's JG 2.0 crowd. I like JG, but he sucked at that hard.

Wait, i havent seen the video, did he say brock wasn't throwing that intended screen pass away? I thought it was pretty obvious that's what he did

He didn't definitively say it was or wasn't (I only watched once). He said he would like to see Brock ground it and it was a dangerous pass (which I think it was too).

every version of the WCO including Shanny's I have ever seen has the QB in charge of drop depth. That comes from pre-snap reads and timing on the first 3 steps. A fully optioned play might not happen till 7, but routs go hot at 3 and 5 along the way.

The easiest way to guess what the play was intended for is watch the passing lanes vs the flat options and when helmet stripes turn back to the QB.

Every once in a while you see what appears to be a flat hot rout, and then helmets start to turn at 5....I have never seen 7 outside of Hail Marys...and 98% of time you see options go live at 3.

Did he post a video of the 7? I must have missed it live.... or maybe it was that weird NFL network game that kept bouncing around....
