He was historically amazing by.....putting up the same numbers last year as Jimmy Garoppolo? The two basically had the same stats. The credit should go to Shannahan for building this plug and play offense.
Anyone who says Brock put up the same numbers as Jimmy hasn't looked at the numbers. First of all, he was much better in the red zone. Second, his completed air yards per attempt (3.9) were higher than Patrick Mahomes (3.7), let alone Jimmy (3.2). Third, his touchdown percentage was ridiculous (7.6%), and more than 2 percentage points higher than Jimmy (5.2%). And lastly, his running contributions were crucial. All told, Jimmy's Total QBR was 54.3, about what he's been the last three years, while Brock's Total QBR was 65.6, which would have been 5th in the NFL had he had enough attempts.
And most importantly, unlike Jimmy, Brock didn't wilt in the playoffs. His Total QBR actually increased, going from 65.6 to 70.8. For comparison, Jimmy in 2021-22 went from 59.2 to 57.8, and in the 2019-20 season Jimmy went from 60.8 to 45.8.
Not only did Brock play a bit better in the regular season, he improved when the competition got better and the stakes got higher. He's the better QB. Or at least was last year, and no reasonable person would doubt that.
