sucks cause I don't think Jimmy has much love for this organization but a lot of fans have love for him. I'm more disappointed in how they handled him than Trey. At least Jimmy was a good qb and did a lot for us. Trey did absolutely nothing and burned a good guy for us.

let's hope Brock stabilizes this place man.

Nothing Jimmy said was wrong. It has been a weird situation for a few years now. Hopefully, that's all behind us now and Brock turns into that dude, that eliminates all QB distractions.

If Brock doesn't turn into that dude, Kyle should be fired.

Turn into what dude, he played at an elite level last year.

Yeah, it's more of Brock needs to stay that dude. Lmao it isn't like Trey was playing well? He doesn't have to out play Lance cause Lance can't play.

brock needs to just keep being Brock and getting better. Lol Lance was going to be a disaster whether had Brock or not. Lance was sent to Dallas, a conference rival…., because the team doesn't think highly of him at all. People acting like they'd send him to Dallas if they thought he had real upside.
so it isn't like Trey staying here and playing would of changed anything. He just would of dragged it out and it would of been ugly.

Side note: it goes both ways with Kyle, hes the one that saw beathard and chose him over other qbs, same guy that put Brock as qb 3 behind Trey and Jimmy. The tape shows hes not been very good at looking for qbs if hes been the main one looking aside from what we have with Brock atm whos still only 7 games in his career. Things can drastically change in the NFL. Only reason we found out what Brock can do was because he was forced into the situation with the injuries.

Beathard lol

ya ok bud

no lies were found.

He left out the part where the 49ers made him the highest paid in the NFL after 5 games

Or when he delayed his surgery and jacked up the whole offseason although that did work out for the team

It's called double standards. A guy, a career bust with 55+ starts gets every excuse and actually gets praised for 4 out of 5 scoreless drives and 3 three and outs but we completely demoralize a guy with 4 starts.

I stand by my comment but this thread is not the place.

So.. I take it that you aren't going with "DarnoldDeyEeyDey"?

I think there's more to the story but time will tell. Trey needs time, he's still raw while Darnold has 55 games. Mostly terrible games but it's experience. I get the move but I also think Trey has a bigger upside that Sam. Remember how terrible Darnold was for 3 years? He was terrible. He even got massive playing time and still was bad.

My point is the double standards though. I am not pushing this to troll or demean anyone but I've pointed out Sam's less than stellar preseason. Even in his thread o highlighted some plays where he missed open guys, two of which where sacks. Nobody said a word. Trey his first game has similar sacks and it was chaos for the week. Trey throws a near pick that results in a TD and again it's all week. Sam throws a ball right into a defender on a extremely stupid play and he gets a pass.

I truly don't understand why a proven bust gets so much respect but Trey got trashed for his every move.

What if it's clear from what they've seen that he'll never reach the level they had hoped he'd attain? If you believe he just doesn't have it and never will, should you keep pressing the issue or cut your losses?

Just because he's raw doesn't mean that he'll ever progress beyond that. This trade is saying that Kyle and Lynch don't believe he'll ever be worth anything in the NFL. Sometimes you just misevaluate a player. It happens.

I agree that they misevaluated Trey, and also disagree that they think he won't be worth anything. I think they know Trey is going to take years to develop the way they saw him slowly developing over these 3 years. They couldn't give him the reps that he needs to develop because of Brock's emergence, BUT I think they still believe he can turn into a good football player. They just don't have the reps to give to him and the time needed to develop him because, again, of Brock. So they traded him to a team that has a chance to give Trey the needed reps for development, and also it was Trey's call to leave. They offered to keep Trey on the team, he obviously didn't want to stay after losing the QB battle.

All in all, I'd say Brock Purdy's emergence is probably 60% to 70% of the reason why they traded Trey, the other 30% to 40% is because of Trey's injuries.

When you get outplayed by a 7th round rookie who has literally no nfl experience, its a wake up call

Well that 7th round rookie just might be a generational talent. If Kyle thinks that, then I'm sure he's ok letting Trey go because obviously Trey's not going to overtake a generational talent. I've never seen anything like Brock Purdy. The guy took over for a 7+ year vet that took the team to numerous NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl, and the offense never missed a beat - as a ROOKIE! Just WOW!

Now that i'm seeing that Trey requested the trade I think I agree with maybe the 70/30 Brock/Trey split. I think it's important for a team to really back they're young promising quarterback. Pretty damn ironic. I love Trey, he seems like a great young man. I think he can be a good quarterback in the NFL and I hope to see him succeed some day. He's gonna be buried behing Dak for years unless something crazy happens, but that's how it goes. The team is showing Brock that they believe in him. We might finally have a really positive quarterback situation in San Francisco. No more weirdness. No more drama.

Yeah, I'm ready for stability and greatness at the position and less of this nonsense drama. I just want a great head coach/quarterback combo for the first time in decades.

im tired of having an awesome roster that is held back by having to play perfect or they lose, since the qb isn't good enough to overcome mistakes.

i think Brock is going to be that guy and that we are in for a treat this year. :) … and the next 14

Agree, it sure looks like Brock is going to be a long term starter for sure.

I think Kyle was blown away by his rookie 7th rounder last year. He was wow'ed enough of Brock to toss Sudfeld and his 2 million guaranteed salary on cutdown day. All the folks who think Kyle can't develop QB's or can't spot QB talent needs to explain the Aquisition, development and emergence of Brock and Jimmy.

The way Brock looked in the Chargers game was eye opening. He was fast, smooth, accurate and unstoppable. One statistic I saw last year was that Brock's offense was scoring more points on average than Patrick Mahome's offense. That made me just go . I truly believe that if we met Pat in the playoffs last year, we'd have outscored his offense.
