QB Brock Purdy Thread

Can you show me the number of times Purdy has fit throws in tight windows? Can you show me the number of times he has thrown deep balls outside the numbers?

The uncomfortable truth is that Brock was gifted with Pro Bowl playmakers at every skill position who got wide open. Any QB1 or QB2 would look great in the same system when defenders are several yards away on almost every pass.

Jimmy G, the QB you all wanted gone, had the same numbers as Purdy last year (16 TD, 4 INTs). This is a system that Kyle has created and he deserves the credit, not any one QB.

that 3rd down and long against Miami or Tamba with the blitz right in his face and he hit Kittle, which kept the drive alive. I don't know if it was a tight throw but it was a damn good one. Not here to argue but that was impressive to me.

I don't know if this is true to be honest. They're getting clobbered on every pass play because they're expected to gain YAC because of the short passes. Deebo got roughed up on the first play of the Broncos preseason game on the screen pass. This play style could lead to a lot of injuries.
One big knock on Garoppolo was being injury prone. Purdy managed to get hurt twice in 8 games one of them season ending on a hit which non-injury prone NFL-size QBs would just absorb. Normally ligament injuries happen because your limb gets locked up between bodies or the ground but in this case it was just a hit where his elbow was completely free and had every chance to pass the energy on and his ligaments still couldn't take the impact. It might be that his elbow was already pre-damaged but that brings us back to Garoppolo's issue again.

His biggest challenge is gonna be to stay healthy over the course of a 17 game season and the playoffs and that's pretty hard for a QB behind a questionable (pass blocking) line who loves to escape the pocket but needs to set his feet to throw more than 10 yards. He does that against Watt and he might land on IR week 1.

Brock's passing chart from last season. He was actually pretty damn good throwing deep down the left sideline.

I'm not sure what the hype is around tight window throws. But you cannot fault a QB for having wideopen receivers to throw to. Especially when that QB has shown a great ability to move defenders with his eyes.

Moving defenders with eyes>>>>>>>>tight window throws

That 3rd and 9 throw for 15 yards to Jennings in the WAS game that setup that 71 yard TD run by McCloud.

Partly true. No QB2 will come in and throw 16/4 td to int ratio. It always takes a good QB to run a system no matter how good a system is. This is why so many west coast systems have failed in the NFL over the last 30 years bc they didn't have a Montana and Young running them.

At great system takes a great QB to fully optimize it and vice versa.

we have never seen a rookie do what Purdy done last year. Now I will Purdy got away with quite a few turnover over worthy balls so I'd expect an uptick in interceptions. He has that gunslinger mentality and that's what gunslingers do sometimes. But that's ok if he continues to grow and score more often then not.

GTFOH!
Only on the webzone, where a rookie qb comes in, puts up unprecedented numbers for a rookie qb, goes undefeated and takes a team to the nfc championship game, is s**t on. And a qb who essentially is the biggest draft buat of all time is defended to death

Meh, Joe Montana sucked when you took his playmakers away. Just go back to 1982. No running attack, no defense. Take any gifted QB and stick him on a crappy team and he'll look like a crappy QB. It's a team game.

So you think if he was bigger his arm would not have been hurt getting bent backwards in the middle of his throwing motion?? What?!?!
