Its also a skill to avoid taking big hits it in the pocket, its why brees and brady lasted so long, and to an extent peyton was really good at just not getting blown up
Well, it's the hits that you don't see that really can injure you. In Purdy's case, it's the Left Tackle that protects his blind side. The problem is that the left tackle is an all world athlete, and not a youngster anymore and tends to be injured right near playoff time, where his spot is usually taken by a backup - in the playoffs.
Hopefully next year, we get some young talented rookies on that offensive line just in case Trent decides to hang them up. In the meantime, I hope Kyle's jerry-rigged OLine holds up.
