LMAO guess it's good to be happy about something. I'm happy the season starts NEXT WEEK.

Stopped thinking about Lance as soon as he was on a plane.

For all his running, it never occurred to me watching Young that he could blow a knee. He was a natural. I get the same sense with Brock.

I don't know, rewatching those games Steve doesn't look fast at all. Dude was tough as nails and determined, but not a burner by any means. I just don't think teams were as prepared during those days to defend against a running QB.

Lots of athletic qbs today. Different back then. The whole league bigger and faster now. Young was one of the fastest qb around the time. Randle Cunningham was fast but wasn't quick like Young. I think Warren Moon was athletic when he decided to. John Elway has really good escapability, a lot of people tend to forget or over look that. I can't remember anyone else at the time. Young probably top 2. I think Cunningham might beat him with top speed once he gets going. But Young has combo of quickness and speed to do more damage on the field.

Cunningham was Kap prior to Kap

I dunno Young and Cunningham were so close...but I see is backwards, to me Steve was not a start and stop guy like Cunningham.

Young was a 4.5 guy that had deep-ish speed. Fastest guy in a straight line on the 49ers for a while according to Rice. 49ers lined him up at WR to run go routs at least once.

I would say Cunningham was twitchier guy. Laser timed at 4.6 flat, but Sports Illustrated listed him at 4.29. He did not play like a 4.3 guy...Seemed more "Vick-light" then Steve was.

Warren Moon was more Dan Marino then Steve Young. Dude was a classic pocket passer, at least by the time he was in the NFL.

John Elway was as functional mobile as anyone not named Mike Vick. Both Elway and Young did not have the start/stop change of direction ability of Cunningham.

Steve Young is one of my fav all time players, but I have always loved Cunningham....dude is an A+++ human and one hell of a football player. Great GREAT dude. I put him up there Evander Holyfield as a grade A+ person.

All I said was Brock was an inch shorter than Steve, and supposedly weighs more than him as well. So folks who worry about his size shouldn't worry too much.

nothing about arm strength lol.

Wow, lot smaller than I thought.

Notes from an actual scouting report Gil Brandt wrote on Young for Dallas in December of 1983: Young is 6-0½, 205 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55

Yeah, neither montana or young were very big. Everyone inflates their height in sports. They weren't small guys but on the smaller end relative to typical QB standards.
I love me some Purdy. I'm very excited for him and what he will do this year. It just feels right when he is leading the team, like we are in good hands. I hope that continues. I love how he wants to win everyday and that confidence flows throughout the team. I liked jimmy but I didn't get the same feeling watching jimmy as I do when Brock is out there. I really think we found our guy for the next 12-15 years. Let's hope our long drought of a stud QB has finally come to an end and this is the start of something beautiful.

If he can play like a top 5-10 qb (which he can easily do) that's enough to win a SB as long as we have a top 10 defense. I see 2 SBs in the next 7 years it would be more but injuries hit us harder than almost any other team
I bet the telecast on Sunday will have a bunch of Pickett vs Purdy graphics.

If he can be at least a 2003-2004 Brady-like QB we'll be sitting pretty.

Brady's 2003-2004 stats

2003: 60.2%, 3620 yards, 23 TDs, 12 INTs
Playoffs: 59.5%, 792 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs
2004: 60.8%, 3692 yards, 28 TDs, 14 INTs
Playoffs: 67.9%, 597 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs

These should be the floor target numbers for 2023. Play efficiently, use your playmakers and defense, be clutch.

Those Brady stats were at the tail end before the NFL changed it to drastically favor QBs. If purdy had 28 TDs and 14 ints that's pretty rough in today's nfl
