The Ringer just updated their QB rankings. Brock Purdy obviously moved up from his spot last year (he was #33 on their rankings after he first debuted last year).

lol stopped reading at...

He's got the look of a leading man, but he can't go off script.

Thats jimmy

Maybe. I clicked on the first link and got a 404. Maybe there's a conspiracy.

That's absolutely embarrassing. How the hell can these people pretend to be professionals when they CLEARLY AND OBVIOUSLY have never spent five fing minutes watching him...

EDIT: that appears to be for Jimmy. Maybe they edited it.

i don't think brock is similar to Kap in how he gets motivated, but I'd bet that brock gets a lot of juice from the constantly knocking on him and saying he is limited etc. He's uber competitive, so feel like that gets his juices going. I cant' wait to see how he does on Sunday. Going to be a savage.

after he dominates pittsburgh, everyone will just make excuses as to why he played well - and I love it. muahahha I love the doubted underdog.

Purdy could lose this game and still play at a level in which I'd be extremely encouraged.

At the same time, Purdy could win this game and play at a level in which I'm deeply concerned.

If GK doesn't play, that cannot not be used as an excuse, due to the precedent set by many posters here, Purdy needs to perform and perform well.

There'll definitely be chatter that he's only winning because of his supporting cast or because Kyle is the play caller, but fortunately we already have a baseline of how Jimmy did when he played under those same circumstances. Additionally we get to see how Jimmy plays without all those things.

I'm not worried about the first few games. Ya he can't suck, but doesn't need to be great early on.

Yeah, i agree with that. if you strictly just a QB on their stats, then you'll typically be wrong - good or bad. It's also how they play within the game, read the defense, accurate, timing, poise etc. there is a lot that goes into it.

I like Jimmy but there were several games where I thought he played worse than the stats showed. It was really him getting a little lucky and the other guys playing really good. There were also games were I thought his performance was better than his stats, that he made some clutch/tough passes.

Didn't the last time we play Pitt was 2019? and Jimmy led a game winning drive? i think we played them in like week 2 or 3.
"You could tell leading up to the combine and the pro day that he gets locked in," Hewlett said. "I recall one moment after the East-West Shrine Bowl last offseason where we were going over some film and talking through a play, and the way he described in detail what players were doing on the field and how he described it, I immediately knew the game itself was actually pretty slow for him.

"He saw things at a very detailed level. And that was like a moment where I was like, 'This kid is going to be all right.'"

After another offseason with Hewlett & Co., it looks like Purdy is going to be all right once again.

the only thing that worries me is it sounded like his velocity isn't quite what it was last year, or at least wasn't before camp started. When watching him, it doesn't seem like he lost anything, though. oh well - I thought brocks arm looked good during the pre season, so I'm sure it's improved since his time in jacksvonville.

Are you serious right now? Your joking right?

Well you see, if George Kittle is out there that makes the QB read defenses better, process faster, play with more poise in the face of a rush, throw more accurately… etc.
