Well you see, if George Kittle is out there that makes the QB read defenses better, process faster, play with more poise in the face of a rush, throw more accurately… etc.

Yeah, you don't have to have everyone out there in order to play good. If Brock needs all pros at every position just to have a good game, then he himself is trash.

having good talent around you makes it easier, but he can still play well if dwelley is in there, or anyone.

What some fail to realize that even if a play doesn't work, doesn't mean the QB didn't play well.

That's why I never understood that argument for Trey. Trey struggled to do the little things right, that makes a qb play well.

Not worth understanding. It's just a bad argument by peeps who tend to judge QBs with a high priority on team production. If Kittle isn't playing, I'd expect the offense and the QB's production to suffer some. I still would expect the QB to play his position well from an individual standpoint.
40% chance of rain for Sunday afternoon

exactly, I hope Kittle plays cause he is awesome and a difference maker - super fun to watch. Like you said, I expect Brock to do his individual job at a high level regardless.

It's just odd that some can't differentiate between a QB executing the responsibilities of the position well vs the offense as a whole not playing as well because the quality of players in the game.

I think rain imoproves the 49ers chances of winning. Though I have said from the start I think (on a sunny day) the 49ers win by 10.

I hope it's a f**king monsoon on Sunday and sets records for the city of Pittsburgh.

And I hope Deebo fumbles at the 7 yard line on the first drive when we're heading in to score. And that the Oline plays like complete trash all day long. And that Kittle and McCaffery take the week off.

Ok now let's get this win!

Classic strawman

Is it? I'm pretty certain I repeatedly saw Trey's performances defended because of missing players, along with weather conditions… etc.

Wasn't that the exact reason you mentioned it? Seems pretty clear in your post.

Correlation =/= causation

So yes, a lot of fans used Kittle's absence to defend Trey, but I didn't see any fans actually claim it caused Trey to not read defenses, process slower, or throw with less accuracy. That's what I'm saying is a strawman. I saw more people gaslight those ideas, or claim that people were saying Kittle's absence or the rain was the only reason Trey played poorly, when in reality the number of people who said those things verbatim was slim to none.

My OP was just agreeing with the idea that not having Kittle did not CAUSE Trey to play poorly and I'm simply applying that rule to all 49ers QBs, equally. Which is something I feel like I've been very consistent in doing.
Considering I've always said Trey hadn't reached the standard we needed him to play at, while Purdy exceeded that standard.
