QB Brock Purdy Thread

The Steelers picked not one but TWO quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL draft. Neither were Brock Purdy.

Wonder if they're regretting that decision tonight?

gotta grow thicker skin. it was caught for a TD, laugh it off

Indeed. Who cares what Cohn thinks.

Finally have a Qb who can go through progressions efficiently, not make big mistakes and can actually consistently make plays when the blocking breaks down. Throwing deep isn't a concern at moment because I know he will throw it if it's there.
i will take those TDs who people label them as "not deep" all day

There was a play where it looked like Purdy was gonna bomb it to deebo but I think the ball got tipped or there was pressure. I wonder if we can get a view of that play to see what would've happened if Purdy was able to launch it.

Lol Brock called that TD to Aiyuk "the deep ball"

Not even close to a deep ball lol. Great catch by Aiyuk on great coverage on a good throw by Brock. I like that he had the balls to throw back shoulder on that medium range ball.

You and Grant Cohn would get along great.

You think that second TD to Aiyuk classified as a deep ball? Great play on great coverage but that was not deep. It was 19 f**king yards.

Lmao.

It was a 19 yard touchdown pass because of where the ball was spotted. But he threw it closer to 30 yards in the air. Anything over 20 is considered a deep pass. But that's beside my point.

You're in here pretending to compliment Purdy when it's clear you're trying to throw shade. Which is what Cohn does, hence why I said you'd get along.

Not throwing any shade at all. You and others are oversensitive - come on we all know that was not a deep ball and we weren't at a spot on the field for that to be a deep ball. So it was humorous that he referred to a 19-yard pass as a deep ball when obv it wasn't. Nothing wrong with Brock on that play I was jumping around with my brother when Aiyuk caught that both of us saying how sick a throw that was back shoulder and giving your best receiver a chance to go get it.

Not to mention you know what people mean when they say they like the deep ball and it doesn't mean a 22 yard out or comeback or curl etc. But that's beside my point.

Brock is our only chance at winning the Super Bowl and if he goes down we are completely f**ked no different from last year in the playoffs.

He was making a joke about Peterson and referenced the 2nd touchdown, "the deep ball," to differentiate between the short one which was the in route. He wasn't trying to give himself credit for throwing it deep or whatever weird accusation you're making.

Do you know what a 10 yard out is called? A deep out. Does that mean it's a "deep pass?" No. It's to differentiate from a quick/speed out.

And sensitive, really? We have a legit franchise level QB and the best roster in the NFL. No one is sensitive. We're simply sick of having to defend our QB from our own supposed "fans" who can't get over their weird love affairs over other QB's who couldn't cut it. I was a huge Jimmy fan and Trey as well. They're gone and neither can hold Purdy's jock strap.

Get over it, let it go, or stay out of the thread. But if you choose to be talking crazy like this, then expect to be called out over and over.

Lol as if you can command me to stay out of the thread if I say something you don't like.

What a joke.

And makes sense if Brock was just differentiating between his shorter TD to Aiyuk vs the 19-yarder thus called it the deep ball. It is the only way saying that does make sense so I like your interpretation of his comment.

Now I am def bullish on Trey and thought it was the dumbest s**t in the world that we brought in a proven 55-game mediocre qb in Darnold to be QB2 and it could easily bite us in the ass if Brock goes down, but Brock earned QB1 w his play last year. I just hope he can get us over the finish line and bring us #6 unlike Jimmy because Darnold certainly is not capable of doing so.

Not commanding you to do anything, simply giving you your options. You're the one shocked that so many people are coming at you about your comments, so I'm explaining why. Doesn't help that you wished for a long recovery from Purdy so that Trey would get a chance to start.

Clearly you're not over Trey. Whole separate thread for you to express yourself about it.
There are a lot of idiots in this forum so I don't care "how many" people in here "come at me" about a comment of mine. lol

I wanted to see what Trey was or was not before shipping him out for peanuts like we ended up doing and to a conference rival no less. I'm certainly not over Trey being shipped out to a conference rival without knowing if he is good or if he sucks or if he is mediocre. Nobody knows and the only thing dumber than trading all those first round picks for a bust is trading that player to another team for nothing when you don't know what he is or isn't and that player going on to be a top QB in the league so yeah I think the smart move was to keep Trey as QB2 here and never bring in a known bust in Darnold in the first place.

But this is the Brock thread so no need for you to bring up Trey. We have hitched our wagons to Brock so I'm rolling with him and hope when it all matters in the NFC title game and Super Bowl he is able to get it done the way Jimmy was unable to as that is why we drafted Trey since Jimmy was clearly not good enough. And with Trey not on the team anymore Brock is essentially Trey now as those expectations now fall solely on him.

I think he can bring is #6 but sample size still small and hope in a few years we all know he is an elite qb in this league.
I held my 5h*t in when he secured the ball behind his back thinking Watt would try to rip it loose and ruin his arm for the second time. I was able to poop safely after he got up. Otherwise a very encouraging game from him; hopefully he does turn into our Broseph Montana

This dude is light years ahead of Justin Fields.

I think Deebo was behind his man but it was tight coverage. Would want to see it again on film… definitely wish we could have seen the result of the play without the pressure like you.

That all depends on what you want. He's a much better QB but Fields throws harder and runs faster

That's funny, they selected another QB in
the seventh round. Lol

overall, they actually selected quite a few players that have been impactful though - Pickett (trash), Pickens (good pick), DeMarvin lean (got injured today but played), Calvin Austin (played today), Connor heyward (saw him out there today)

Oof, that's doubly rough. We lucked out so hard with Purdy. I still can't comprehend just how consistently good he's been. We're literally watching history unfold. Coaches in Pit are going to love breaking down tape this week. Breaking down the best QB from the 22 class as they watch theirs throw two picks.

I've always thought that. Lol I mean you play almost a whole season and you throw 7tds and 9 int, yet thays good? Only reason he got any glory over Brock is cause he played more games? What a joke.

Only reason any offensive rookie for any recognition over Brock last season is cause they played more games. Other than that, Brock blew every single rookie out of the water in performance. What a joke

I want to say it was towards the end of the 1st half. The series right before the Pitt TD drive.
