Tua was the highest ypa passer last year. It's not a fluke that he's a very, very good QB. He may have the best arm in the NFL.

You are clearly a troll, and not even one of the clever ones.

New name created the day Trey was traded.

Dude is emotionally scarred.

Damn, that's just sad s**t there.

He's a Darnold homer…I'm guessing a USC guy

I hope its a ShanaLynch wakup call to protect our Franchise QB. They did overdraft the TE position, I think, this offseason -- one major reason in my mind was Riddick and that arm hit on Brock.

But drafted all the wrong ones. Darnell Washington who went like ten picks ahead of Latu was outstanding for Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Boss might be in great shape, but moving lifeless weights is not the same thing as sumo wrestling a two hundred seventy pound athlete. I will chalk that up to not being in football shape.

EDIT: Brock Purdy.

Kyle Shanahan may have defined "it" in an interview he gave:

"Brock's pretty steady," Shanahan said. "Brock, you don't see much different each day. He's a very faith-based person. I think that gives him his foundation as much as anyone I've been around."

Purdy has made no secret of his faith and how he relies on it in everything he does. Maybe that is "it."

i wonder what his faith is, scientology?

He is a Christian.

Since he knows football doesn't define him, he is able to relax out there and just do his job to the best of his ability. Some players play way to tight and make mistakes. Look at Josh Allen from the Bills.

So we may be watching a new version of "Joe Cool".

That is what he has said in several interviews.

Apparently, Shanahan has noticed.

I'm ok with the J'air Brown and Jake Moody picks. What ticks me off about the Latu pick - is that ShanaLynch could have drafted OT's: Blake Freeland, Dawand Jones, Braeden Danliels, Carter Warren, or Colby Sordal. I know they said they didn't like any OT's in the draft after that OT run in the first round, but We're talking about protecting the franchise QB here! Give it a shot, like they gave Purdy a shot.

I do like TE willis though. I hope he breaks into the active 48 by the end of the season. I'm going to give ShanaLynch the benefit of the doubt on Latu (vs Darnell Washington) when he's healthy - afterall they took Kittle and he became a star despite being hardly used as a reciever in college. Personally, just looking at Darnell - I think he fits Pittsburg's offenseive system better than Kyle's - due to the zone vs gap bocking. Latu, Ithink, fits the 49ers zone blocking because he has some athleticism about him. We'll see.

I didn't see anything special about Latu at Bama. He was a 6th rd guy imo. Taking a kicker in the top 100 is blasphemy regardless. There was players to be had like you said, especially along that OL.

It's crazy based off how much OL prospects need to develop (because college football is massively different for them), you should always be drafting OL.

FWIW Pitt runs zone blocking concepts all the same.

Ya I did that thing where you try and use your brain.

It picked up in the fact that he never posted in the Trey thread, was researching a s**t of load of Darnold stats or already knew them, and gushed about Darnold non stop.

I can't believe I fell for this Trey Stan!

And regarding his arm, he's definitely got a strong enough arm. It's stronger than you'd think IMO and the ball gets to its intended target quicker than you'd think - he can throw the deeper outs and he can definitely get it downfield, and with accuracy. He may not have the howitzer like some others in the league, and maybe his passes can look a little deceiving because he's not the biggest QB out there. He's definitely not the smallest, either, and he also has a strong base with very quick feet.

When I think noodle arm, a QB that comes to mind is someone like Shaun Hill (yet Hill was a gamer IMO).

Some people want to see it play out before proclaiming him "the one" fans are so short sighted and instant gratification based. 200 passing attempts against poor defenses (for the most part) wasn't gonna put me over the edge to be fully on board. Sorry if that bothered you. I never said he stunk or anything.

I'll root for him every step of the way and I've talked about how I like his moxie. Not a single person said he didn't have that quality.

Yes he does have a subpar arm, that isn't gonna change and even he's stated he doesn't have that tool in his tool belt. Arm ability matters when you play QB at the highest level in the world. It just does regardless of how hard you want to poo poo it. No it's clearly not the only thing that matters, we've seen plenty of successful QBs not have that. It is however a part of playing the position. Same s**t with Jimmy not being mobile or really able to extend plays. You s**t on that ability because he doesn't possess it…Brock does and ya'll love it. Funny how that works.

like Eric Crocker said…Speed doesn't matter until you need it. Same thing with arm strength.

I'm not gonna start some baloney argument…Great first week by the whole team including the QB. Let's keep it going in the right direction!
