QB Brock Purdy Thread

I saw the absolute best of Montana, so my expectations are extremely high. I have seen QB after QB since then and have learned that it is not only players who are responsible for winning games but coaches also. In Purdy Boy Brock, Coach Shanahan has thrown the play book at him and trusts him to execute. Purdy is making Kyle confident and everyone should be able to see what this young man is doing on the field. There is no panic in his game even when he sees a sack coming. His feet are steady and set. He knows how to look coverage off and does so consistently. He goes through his reads and will come back to a previous one. That run he had Sunday was a perfect set up as he juked one defender, who was the closest one to him, and rambled for ten more yards. I say as this season goes on, Purdy Boy Brock's play will become evident that he is truly the FQB of the San Francisco 49ers

What's encouraging is he still has flaws in his game. Sometimes he doesn't feel the rush or doesn't have a good internal clock. Sometimes he's a bit off with his accuracy. Sometimes he's a bit late to throw. These things can be improved, and yet despite these flaws he's playing the best ball of any QB we've had since Jeff Garcia probably. I mean, the kid has the potential to be a legend.

Yep we are talking about someone in the beginning of their second year, where they didn't even play a full season last year. Lots of people don't realize that he can still get better.
Only 14 plays because of the early blow out, so too small of a sample size, but still...

2 decades of no Pro Bowlers at QB has been much too long.

I had the same thought last season. Purdy plays in the NFL the way Manziel played in college. Just absolute swagger, zero f**ks given, always looking for a big play.

You think he always looks for the big play? I agree he got the swagger

He looks for the medium play. He's turned down open short passes to hit intermediate ones many times.

If our D forces teams to score 7 pts a game and Brock puts up 65% comp with 250 yards and 2 TDs yeah we can win a SB no question.

Think 9ers win pretty easily if they get 250 and 2 tds from Brock.

Well if our D DOESN'T force teams to score 7 points a game Purdy can easily throw 300+ a game if he had to

Brock Purdy MVP odds went from +5000 to +2500 in one game

I got a bet on him making the pro bowl. It was like -700 at the time.

Makes sense. I think a lot of people were worried he would have a second year dropoff or his injury would affect his play. This game showed he is right where he left off last year.
If he throws 2TDs a game for 34TD total and top record in the league... he has to be a front runner for MVP

He looks for what the defense gives relative to the play call. That is far more important that stupid arm strength or pointless fantasy football stats like air yards.

tough to do with no arm

Lol

it's called draftism, ppl have a hard time buying in that a guy picked so late can have talent, happened with Brady also
turns out the draft is a very inexact science, do that same draft today and he's going ahead of T Walker, who was the first pick when BP was last

That's very true. He's much better than his draft status.

i said this in the offseasonn if Trey had the exact same year Purdy we have we would be annoiting him saying he would be an MVP candidate

once you get to the NFL we should throw draft capital spent away the best player should start I think that's what KS and JL do and I like that even if it pisses fans off
