He's playing that position to go FORWARD and jump to break up the pass. It's really hard for a corner to come back after playing full speed one direction, through the WR and also behind. That's the entire point of a back shoulder throw, which is precisely what that one looked like.

Was a really good throw. Same as the one to CMC he couldn't hang on to.
I'm gonna say it again: in that 5-15 yard window, he has some Mahomes in him.

Brock's deep ball looked a lot better this week. Two great deep throws under pressure. McCaffrey had one knocked out but that hat throw was great, and so was Deebo's touchdown.

the DEEVAH made a great adjustment to the ball, I personally think that the it was not a beautiful pass.

It was deliberately thrown there because the defender wasn't looking and had position inside, guaranteed.

I personally don't believe that... BUT the result was GREAT..
Why not? Brock does a lot of that "leverage" stuff. I mean it looked pretty obviously like a back shoulder throw.

PURDY showed why the nickname I game him is perfect... B-ROCK STEADY !!!

the throw was behind and Deevah made a VERY GOOD catch...

He is historically accurate. Lol Mahommes wants some Purdy in him on those throws 😈

Deebo looked like an extra player, not a core part of an offense. He looked like a dude you add once you have everything else in place.

It is one game...so can't let it tell too much of a story....but this offense looks crisper last year with no Deebo then it does this year with no BA.

The best thing the 49ers could do for Purdy is go get him another super crisp rout runner that is where he is suppose to be when he is suppose to be there and spread the darn field out.

So much tight formations this game... it ruins space in the passing game. I know why they are doing it with a run heavy game plan, they want the run blocking rules advantages skill players get from tight formations, but dang man....you got a QB with 10 games under his belt, give him the larger passing windows that come from spreading the field out.

Great post and spot on.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he was under almost constant pressure all night long and the fact that the Giant's defense was playing really well. People in here seem to think that these games exist in a vacuum and that Purdy should just be able to go out there and do whatever he wants, and if he doesn't it's because he's "struggling" or not playing well. Giant's D made them work for everything they got tonight, and it took a great throw and catch by Brock and Deebo to finally put the game away. Three games into the season and the team is undefeated, scoring 30 pts, a game, and Brock hasn't thrown an interception, but "oh, he missed those three passes against the Rams", how about if we all talk about that some more,

Giants blitzed the s**t out of him. Wink made a bet that they could force this young QB into some really bad decisions by pressuring him constantly.

Pretty remarkable play for a guy with a little over a half season's worth of starts. He continues to make smart decisions with the football while under pressure, and continues to make some really incredible throws as well. His two TD passes today were equally impressive for different reasons. The toss to Bell was absolutely bananas anticipation, and it had to be with free pressure right in his face. Then the deep throw to Deebo, a back shoulder from the far hash to the pylon, f**k yeah. All the while standing tall in a collapsing pocket.

But hey, he had an up-and-down first half, so... The first half was actually solid from a team perspective. We dominated the TOP and had a pretty solid ground and intermediate/short passing game going. Sure there were some off throws, but there were also a lot of great in stride sideline tosses that netted large gains from our playmakers. There were a couple big third down conversations where Brock would keep the sticks moving. And he was under a ton off pressure as you've illustrated above with the blitz rate tonight. That's a lot of pressure, and this offense really churned the TOP and grinded this game with a balanced short-medium attack early, then a few daggers late.

Why? Because he said we won 4 Super Bowls? That's just senility.

If Deebo was a better pass catcher and could track the ball properly, he could have just leaned back and the ball would have hit him in stride. The ball was where it was supposed to be, Deebo wasn't.

So true. The giants lined up in a phone booth like half the game. How many did times did the giants stack 7 players literally beween the tackles. Thought we'd have some hot concentpts from the coaching staff but didn't look like it,
How are people badmouthing Deebo after that game? Kittle and Him and CMC have all made some incredible catches on some off-target passes this year, so I'll give him some slack for not being perfect on some plays. He's still averaging close to 100 yards a game.
People on twitter claiming it's nothing but the system lol. This ain't the system, folks.

Am I the only one that is impressed with his anticipation on that play? He was running backwards and had to throw it really early. Great play by bell, for sure, but i thought the anticipation was great because he had to throw it in an uncomfortable situation.
