Every game thirty points with this kid. With this defense that is going to be hard to beat.

Purdy for Thirty. That is going to be my new nickname for him.

Agreed. It feels surreal to see a Niners QB making back shoulder throws consistently, and throwing guys open consistently. It feels like it's been a long time since I've seen a Niner QB play this kind of football. Brock is really intuitive, unlike any 49er QB since Garcia for sure. Definitely has a little of that magic to his game.

We are getting a handful of great reads and throws a game.....but there is so much room for growth still.

Best QB in a long time, and there is still upside he has a legitimate chance of reaching.
This dude will be a legend.
Purdy throws the deepest back shoulder tds ive evr seen like wtf

I thought Brock was awful early on, but I always assumed he would settle down. He did, and then some. Overall pretty good game from the kid. A-/B+ game, and closer to the former than latter.

His first drive was rough. Hands down the worst drive I've seen him in. I think had two TWP too. I wouldn't say "awful" because I consider someone like Zach Wilson to be awful. Hahaha but it was pretty bad. Made me nervous but I trusted that he would do what he always does, adjust and settle down.

short week against a complex defense, who historically blitzed. Lol I guess I can't blame his rough start because he only has 9-10 starts or so. I was just glad that he didn't turn it over

No, it was awful. He was 3 for 8 and 3 passes could or should have been picked. Even the completion to Jennings was horribly behind him. It was easily the worst drive of his career.

But it's not how you walk in the door it's how you walk out. Purdy had a really good game overall, in spite of the start.

Am I the only one that is impressed with his anticipation on that play? He was running backwards and had to throw it really early. Great play by bell, for sure, but i thought the anticipation was great because he had to throw it in an uncomfortable situation.

No sir you are not the only one. He sees the field like a ten year veteran sometimes.

No, I've been mentioning it too. Such a great anticipation throw, arm in motion before Bell even breaks. This is a guy with a little over half a season's worth of starts throwing, with anticipation, to a fifth round rookie getting his first or second NFL target. Such a great play and moment for the young guys.

I really enjoy how much trust he puts in his guys. He constantly does what he can to help them make a play. Guys like jimmy and Alex smith almost never did that. It had to look open for them to throw it. Brock throws it where the guy is supposed to be and trust he will get it. That's the stuff the best QBs in the league do and I really enjoy it as a fan.

And Kap too. Remember there was an anonymous 49ers coach who said anticipation was the one thing he couldn't get. It wasn't reading defenses or anything that the popular narrative claims. It was anticiaption, according to this guy. He said there were times when he was so close to really understanding it intuitively, but he could never take that final step, and remained mostly a "see it, throw it" kind of QB.

Not the case with Brock.

Of course players have room to grow. Recognizing Purdy's historic start doesn't mean he is crowned the next big thing. He has to consistently earn it, but so far, so good.

And, not to be pedantic, but I don't really agree with reducing Purdy's contributions as a handful of great reads and throws in a game. It's the majority of his game. The miscues, thusfar, have been the exception and not the rule. It's more rare when we see a quarter or a half that he doesn't look like superman. The thing that blows my mind, is that Purdy has still not played a bad game to start his career. He's had up-and-down halves, but never anything close to a bad game. This seems unprecedented to me.

We'll get to see Sam Darnold by half-time!

No need to post Mike McDaniel in here. He belongs in the NFL forum.

He is turning his target with real consistency....I wonder if he is attempting to shield his guy or if he just a half tick off.

I have to assume some of it is ball protection and or player protection... maybe when the game slows down for him more we will see a change in ball placement.

He is not throwing picks, that can't just be luck....sure some might be luck.....but I think his intent is ball safety.

The world is finally starting to see it. Forget all the other stuff that doesn't matter like arm strength, speed, and draft selection because Brock excels at the one thing that you must have to be an all-time great at QB, and that's the ability to quickly process what you're seeing and then execute the play with high efficiency. His TD to INT ratio tells us that his football intellect is elite. He's going to be a special franchise QB for the next 15+ years if he continues to improve. We might have the face of the next 49ers dynasty. At least I hope so.

Fair enough......

I think we are getting NFL level reads and throws for the majority of game, with a handful ..I dunno 5 or so.... great throws....

I think we can both agree that he has room to get better. His upside looks remarkably high.
The difference between Brock and our previous guys is that while we were waiting for them to "put it all together" and have those high points take over instead of the inconsistencies, we were losing games or barely winning, mainly because of our defense. While we wait for Brock to "put it all together" we're scoring 30+ per game.
