This is why a smart QB is often better than a physically gifted QB. I wonder if Josh Allen would have been able to adjust like that in the 2nd half.

This is an example of why selecting a QB out of college is such a crapshoot. No college team runs sophisticated defenses like you see in the NFL. They mostly just line uo and play man hoping their talent beats your talent. Some very gifted QBs just can't process what they see when they come to the NFL.

We literally saw the opposite of Brock when Jones was at QB surveying the SF defense

I was reminded of the "seeing ghosts" quote from Darnold

We are lucky. Brock Purdy is a special one

Impressed with BCB. Wink is a good DC and bringing the heat all game is a tough task to take on. The great ones fest off blitzes…I think this is something that he will get progressively better at attacking as he develops and sees more.

didn't get rattled. Arrow up!

also not sure why everyone was b***hing at Wilks last night? 12 pts & their only TD was off of like 40 yards of penalties. Good game for a TNF game imo. No serious injuries. Nice mini bye.

I liked the wilks hiring at the time, and still do. I like the idea of having an experienced, and respected, voice for him. He's always had such young inexperienced coordinators around him. Wilks is a very respected coach by the players, he's a little different than what we've had, but has done a good job.

the fans expect every drive to be 3 & out and if not, they suck. Lol I've chalked up the first half of the rams game and things of that nature to, to him just getting a feel for his guys and their tendencies. What they can and can't do.

i really like Wilks. I've always had concerns about our defense in the early stretch because we are adjusting to his blitz style and he's feeling the players out - all while having none to minimal tape on opponents.

overall, he's doing a really good job. Seems to adjust very well throughout the game, which is very important.
Some of your old timers may remember back in the 80s when, 15 year, Detroit lion , Wayne Walker was a sportscaster on channel 5 said about Joe Montana "Even when he's not that good hey he's not bad"

No it was that 6 man front that NY ran all night. They blitzed him more than any team ever has. It definitely threw him off his game. I wa simpressed hiw he came back and had a big second half. The TD pass to Deebo was a thing of beauty from him and Deebo.

I'm wondering what's going on with the fumbled snaps. I think he's had about 4 or 5 already. Even though he recovered them that's a concern.

The Giants DC is a good coordinator and he runs an exotic blitz scheme. He knew Brock had limited time to study and is inexperienced. So he put him to the test and was showing tons of 5/6 man fronts with exotic blitzes. Keeping him confused and off guard.

It got the better of Brock early but he settled down. Great learning curve for him.
Walsh would have loved how Purdy has played.

Such a wonderful feel to that video. It's cool because all of those guys are great in their own rights and they just seem like the boys. Especially at that time where they were freshly retired for 8-10 years or so.
I think we learned from last year that Brock is not affected by blitzes. I get what the Giants were trying to do but it was desperation and I am glad Brock got to see these looks. It will only get easier for him.

Finishing the season with 0 ints would be insane. Lol very unlikely.

i hope he gets closer to 30 TDs. I know it doesn't matter, as long as we win, but selfishly I want our qb to have badass stats. Lol

I'm sure he'll be able to pad his stats against defenses like ARI, SEA, MIN and WAS.
Who's right, you or this guy? Lol

YAC bros is right. Brock has 4 TDs in 3 games. (4/3)*17 ≈ 23.

EDIT: I see this was already addressed. My bad I respond as I read. Math education is bad le sigh.

We need this in a meme stat.

I feel s**tty doing this as Brock played pretty damn well but I'm not sure I like the fadeaway throwing off the back foot thing he was doing. I understand he was getting pressured and he connected on some but I also think this could get him in trouble and it's where he left a few questionable throws out there.

In order to make great plays you have to take some risks. He's capable of doing it so why not?

He may have added his rushing TD by accident or out of context.

King is absolutely right. Purdy's draft status is coloring these reactions, because that's the standard Purdy is expected to return to - 7th round nobody.

If he was a 1st or 2nd round pick people would be saying "man, he's really living up to his expectations" instead.

That's the way media narratives work. It's unfair, and it doesn't really matter for what happens on the field, but it's the reality.

Tom Brady had won THREE Super Bowls and still prior to the 2007 16-0 year some in the media framed it as him being lucky to be matched up with that defense, "just" an elite game manager, etc. The draft spot of Purdy is going to stick with him for a LONG time even if he wins multiple championships.

And florio indirectly confirmed that he was judging him based on the personal initial bias he created. Brock Purdy isn't a QB name… Florio essentially showed how non-objective and biased the media is.

he'll jump on the wagon when the other 🐑 start leading the way lol

Just because Josh Allen had a bad game against a great defense doesn't mean he's dumb lol. Stop using him as your example to contrast with Purdy haha.

Unfortunately for Jones, that's what he looks like all the time lol. He was born wondering what the hell he is doing here on Earth. Watch him on the sideline. He always looks bemused.
