It's ok to compare him to Montana, don't be all scared to have it on record now. Lol

If you're referring to Baldinger comparing Brock's poise to Montana's poise (webzone article), I think Baldy needs to calm down with that. I don't remember Brock in a 'gotta have it' moment like a last minute drive to get into field goal range or needing to score a touchdown to tie/win. That's where Montana's poise showed.

Brock did drive the 49ers down for a potential winning FG against the Raiders last year, only for Gould to miss it.

Week 17 against the Raiders isn't exactly the same level of pressure as the Super Bowl, but you can only perform in the opportunities you're given. Maybe if Montana was as good as Brock, he wouldn't have needed to be so clutch.

Raiders game last year, brought them back into field goal range to try to avoid going to overtime, not Purdy's fault that Gould missed the game winner. Not saying he should be anointed the new Joe Cool, but he has had a last minute, clutch drive that should've been a game winner, and that it wasn't is not his doing.

Oh snap. The Raiders game. He stepped up for sure.

cool Joe montana interview from this off season. Idk if anyone has seen it but he talks about Brock some.
What I keep seeing in Purdy is his remarkable timing. On the TD pass to Bell, even backpedaling with a blitzer in his face, he knew when to release the throw as well as how much pace and height to give it for a perfectly timed ball to the WR. In the Seattle game last season, Brock's double fake pumps to either flat and then the pass to Kittle in the middle was perfectly timed. The time taken for each pump was convincing as fakes, but he still released the pass just when Kittle was turning for it. A TD followed. The Niners have run that play twice before and each time the QB (when not Brock) looked rushed and the play was less effective. In many other plays, Brock might get chased by blitzers but he still keeps the timing of the play to complete a pass as if he's got a calculator in his head making the timing adjustments.

Not too shabby for pick 262 without even 10 starts.

i really forget how little he's actually played because he looks like a vet when he plays.

It would be amazing if he had been the #1 overall pick. I'm moving past his draft slot and value though, because that is blatantly obvious. He is simply a great quarterback, and a perfect fit for Kyle's offense. Stay humble, be obsessed with greatness, and stay healthy - and we have our franchise QB for the next decade+.

I finally feel confident we have a QB that can get the job done.

I liked what I saw from Kaepernick in the playoffs, but I never felt confident that Alex or Jimmy could win it all. But I have even more confidence in Purdy, due to the style he plays with and how he's executing. Very exciting times as a 49ers fan.

The only thing left that I need to see (though I don't necessarily WANT to see it) is for him to lead a 4th quarter comeback. I'm pretty sure he's capable, just don't know that my heart can take it.

I'm surprised 67.0 is only good for the 12th best completion percentage. That's pretty high.
