QB Brock Purdy Thread

greg roman would never work with brock. he needs a track star to make something happen when his 1970s route tree is shut down by defenses

100 percent. I'd say it goes beyond selecting him too. Kyle cut it loose when he took over right from the jump… and committed to him through a serious injury in the offseason as well.

We went from some highly questionable QB management, being kind, to pressing all the right buttons rapidly fast. Feelsgoodman.

Oof, that time stamp. Just hours before one of the most efficient QB performances ever. What a clown.

Dude is a clown....

I clicked on it...wish I hadn't ....will never click it again....

What he's doing is unreal to me. Sure, he's got talent around him, but I don't see anyone saying Montana and Young weren't good just because they had Rice, Taylor, Craig, Watters, etc. on O and other ballers on D. You didn't see credit taken away from Brady when he had Gronk and superstar RB Corey Dillon. Mahomes with Hill, Kelce, Hunt. Elway with McCaffrey, Sharpe, Terrell Davis, and Rod Smith (criminally underrated -- had twice the career production of John Taylor).

What else can you ask of Purdy?

He can throw deep -- he improved there.

He can distribute the ball well.

He can make tight window throws.

He is mobile.

He has a quick release.

He is without question a natural born leader of men.

He's as high character and mature as it gets.

He has total understanding and command of the offense.

He can even sneak it better now, another improvement.

This is a franchise QB. PERIOD.

if you dont believe he has a noodle arm youre fibbing yourself

We did pass on him many many times and our depth chart was upside down to start the season last year.

Props to Kyle and CO for actually selecting him, and keeping him over Sudfeld… but we still hit the goddamn lottery, lol.

Yeah, we got lucky with Brock but the staff deserves credit for selecting him and keeping him. They quickly realized his potential and ate $2M on it, even going into the season with a 7th round rookie as a backup is tough and they did it even though we have super bowl aspirations.

it's a combination of getting extremely lucky but also a staff willing to do the right thing by the team. It's awesome

I give Kyle credit for immediately seeing his talent in training camp and keeping him, vs Mooch cutting Kurt Warner (for example). But actually picking him in the draft was *lottery Luck* for sure.

His deep ball efficiency says otherwise.
This morning I listened to Cowherd as I usually do because he's opinionated and doesn't just try to be nice about everyone. I agree with him a lot and disagree almost as much. This morning I was stunned when he didn't mention the 49ers, Brock or McCaffrey.

At lest twice he gushed over how great Herbert is and how he's the reason SD has won 2 games. Not a mention of the day Brock had. I looked at Herbert's stas from yesterday and they were below his normal standard. 54% completions, 167 yards, one TD and one INT and a rating of 74. Purdy set a franchise record completing 21 of 22 (95%), for 283 yards and one TD. No INTs and a rating of 134. He has one fumbel and no INTs thus year. Still Cowherd doesn't mention Purdy and gushes over Herberet. No mention of CMC either.

I know he doesn't hate the Niners. He's said many times that he thinks it's going to be the Eagles or Niners in the SB.If Brock had been a first round pick last year he would be the best in that class. He would be looked at in a different light but because he was drafted so late, people are having a problem trying to see him as a good QB.

I think he's just more east coast centric. Maybe big markets and established names like LA on the west. He just has biases he doesn't see.

Why does this guy have to be such an a** and repeatedly so too. Worse yet he is WRONG about it all. It's just disgusting at this point. What does he know about it anyway? Was he a player or just a writer?

Herbstreet compares him to Stetson Bennett and calls him a "system QB" over and over.

Stetson Bennett = 5'11" 190 lbs.

Brock Purdy = 6'1" 215 lbs.

I mean come on. WTF? He's 25 lbs. heavier and 2 inches taller. Much bigger, stronger, stronger arm, reads the field better, more accurate, faster running around and buying time off schedule. Brock Purdy does not equal Stetson Bennett! Unbelievalble.

Point guard is the new code word for a QB that does not score himself....I guess making ultra mobile QBs combo guards. So any QB that does not scramble would be a point guard.

I have no problem with the System QB label.... They called the best QBs to ever play the game System QBs.

Having said that, the term does not really mean much these days.....every offense is now a system.... There is no QBs that are not system QBs in the NFL. Everybody runs some variation of a timing offense.

In the old days, it a system QB was a QB who worked on a schedule that simplified reads based on time. So a system QB read a part of the field, and a traditional QB read the entire field. It was used as a slight to say a QB's arm could not attack the whole field, or he was too slow to process the entire field.

In the old days, System QBs stretched the field sideline to sideline to keep players hot as time ticked off, traditional QB stretched the field vertically, players got depth down the field as time ticked off. Traditional QBs needed speed at WR and System QBs needed Size. At one time it was rare to have two 6 foot WRs like Rice and John Taylor.

It does not mean ANY thing today....every one works off a timing offense, every one runs skill players across the field, it is just talking heads talking.

The label is obviously meant to be a slight. But if you watch the games it's obvious he is much better than that by far. He's the best QB we had in years and years.

( I thought Purdy was the real deal very quickly tho...but I am tribal...)

Lol, that's funny.

I have to wonder why cherry picking an elite roster changed your opinion on him though.

I gave Brady mad respect after his first SB. Then he just became even better, which at the time it wasn't really conceivable that he could be better than his 3/4 Super Bowls.

brady was special in so many ways. So is belichick - they were a special combo. Usually once in a generation there is a montana type.

brady came about 21 years after montana was drafted. Brock came about 21years after brady was selected - we have the next generational player who does special things when no one expected! It's going to be a wild ride! Take care of your body (chicken, as Marshawn would say haha) and make it a long ass run!

Bill B getting his face kicked in without Brady I mean TB is the best of all time can we agree

Yeah, agree, and I think Bill B. bought his press clippings that he was such a genius he could put a defensive coordinator as an offensive guy. The patriot fans are on the verg of rioting now, as they just got curb stomped by Dallas.
