46 Purdy's.

Probably that he could have completed that pass to McCaffrey lmao. Or that the first deep ball wasn't perfect. But I mean ffs the guy had a 97.2 QBR. Anyone trashing him after a near perfect performance like that loses their football card.

Did you see what the PFF guys said about him? The week 4 review for the game the little bald guy was trying to say that Purdy was trying to split the safeties with the deep pass to BA and that it was fortunate that he was do bad off target on that pass or else it would've been picked off. It seems pretty obvious that he was leading Aiyuk away from the safeties and almost overthrew Brandon.

Just gonna leave this here. I know we've only played 1/4 of the season, but he is getting better and may very well go up. Sorry, don't think Total QBR measures arm strength.

Total QBR All Time

Brady 2007 - 87.0
Manning 2006 - 86.4
Purdy 2023 - 84.5
Rodgers 2011 - 83.8
L Jackson 2019 - 83.0
Brees 2011 - 82.3
Brees 2009 - 82.0
D Garrard 2007 - 80.9
Manning 2009 - 80.7
Mahomes 2018 - 80.3

Garrard lol

That's how it started. I'm still not convinced that throwing the ball with a particular Arc shows you have more or less strength than another individual who throws the ball with a different Arc. I see the two is independent. But it's interesting to read what so many people have to say about Newtonian mechanics and the throwing of footballs.

Well....of course It doesn't. Heck,...the chart proves it doesnt since the forces are all equal.. But if the ball leaves @ the same angle, and you're keeping everything else even,...the one that travels the farthest had the strongest arm at the beginning of it. I mean...not rocket science or anything. Just projectile science.

He is now 27/34 for 538 yards, 4 TD's, 0 INT's with a 123.3 passer rating for the season when throwing 10+ yards.

If I have to hear Butt Fumble call him a point guard one more time, I may just shoot a hole in my TV.

Yea. Wtf are these people watching? Brock currently has the 7th highest deep ball completion % and the 4th highest deep ball passer rating in the NFL.

Well there are posters even on this forum who don't consider 20+ yard throws "deep," even though the NFL does. I have yet to hear a definitive answer on what they think is a "deep throw."

For those posters, the answer is one yard further than Brock can throw it.

I was never this excited about Kap. Kap wasn't a leader for one thing..he got tunnel vision, then his mind seemed to hop all over the place at times. He was a bit chaotic and overwhelmed it seemed. Brock mentally is better, a steady stream, he sees and feels the field better. He is like Joe Cool under pressure. He's just a better qb.

KRAP was not a good QB. This is. Brock_Star is the real deal.

Crazy what a good QB can do. He's also elevated the OL as well.

It's better to just assume all the hand strengths to be "equal" or "even" to each other...to get enough of a spiral by this stage of their careers.

Then compare the real difference, which is arm strength.

But if you again want to go the way of the nerds... I remember this exerpt from an article:

"An article in the American Journal of Physics (2003) that measured the coefficient of drag of a spinning football to be around 0.05 to 0.06."

And so assuming these following things...

The air resistance is proportional to the square of the velocity of the football
The Mass of the ball is 0.42 kg.
The density of air is 1.2 kg/m3.
The coefficient of drag for the football is 0.05 to 0.14 (initial)
Typical initial speed of a thrown football is around 20 m/s

w/ all of these forces acting on the ball:

The furthest throw goes from 45 degrees to

The more you ignore drag/spin/air resistance, the closer it gets back to 45° as the furthest throw.

What if you got the wind at your back? I imagine a higher trajectory would fare better
True. With a tail wind, you would get farther launching at slightly more than 45 degrees, as the ball would be in that wind longer, given gravitational acceleration is constant. Conversely, into a headwind, you would do better launching slightly lower than 45 degrees. If your WR was moving away from you, you would also benefit from a lower trajectory as the ball would get there more quickly.

Since there is air resistance, in a no wind situation, a launch slightly above 45 degrees would help a bit as going more against gravity will lower the speed a bit as the parasite drag varies with the square of velocity. Also, you could expect some aerodynamic lift as long as the angle of attack was positive to the longitudinal axis of the ball.

Better to just go practice and see what works.
I don't think people should doubt him anymore. He has checked every box people have asked of him except to throw an interception. I don't even think the is interception prone like most has said he is due to lack of arm strength which isn't bad at all last season. If you watch him this year as compared to last year his arm strength is fantastic. That deep ball to Aiyuk and those intermediate passes are coming out fast and strong. The most important thing is how super accurate he is. We're not talking about completion percentage here. He seems to his the players right in the numbers. Anything that looks it is behind or too in front is done purposely. I believe he throws it at a certain spot to lead his receivers. He throws it to where his guy can get it.

the having tape on him is not an argument. What the film is going to show is a decisive quick releasing accurate QB that is mobile. Can kill blitzes. Any QB in the league that does this well will be trouble for the defense. That is what tape is going to say.

He has the feel and the athletic instincts and the smarts to make quick decisions and he's putting the balls where only his guy can get it. On the Aiyuk throw he was throwing into the green where only his guy could come down with the ball so no criticism need be made of that deep ball throw

Smart and great player thus far
That back shoulder throw at the sideline to the left to Aiyuk on 3rd down

46 Purdy's.

If he was paid like Jones, I don't think we would have the roster we have.
