QB Brock Purdy Thread

the whole top QB discussion to me is a lil silly, each QB is doing different things, in a different O, with a different playcaller, with different skill guys, different D as well, some guys chasing the game, other teams get out in front so you don't have to throw all 2nd half, makes a big difference

so let's not worry about if BP is ahead of Lawrence in some hypothetical argument, I'll focus more on what is BP doing snap to snap to help us win games, how is he executing the plays he's given

He's already top 5. IMO he's right behind Mahomes, Allen, Hurts, and Herbert, and if he keeps playing like this he'll climb even higher.

I feel like people are really sleeping on what they're witnessing. This kid looks special. It's the exact same feeling that I had watching Steve Young. He makes the right decisions 9/10 and his ball placement is elite. Now you throw in his ability to extend plays with his legs and he's clearly already ahead of many of the league's young QBs. Who the hell is trading Purdy for Lawrence or Burrows? Would you dare take that gamble of trading away the next Tom Brady for someone with a bigger arm?

Kap wasn't crap. He had some great skills and qualities, but got waylaid and distracted.

Kaepernick seemed to have no interest in improving as a qb. He wasn't very good at reading and reacting to defenses, and he couldn't throw touch passes with much accuracy. He was more interested in building his biceps and street cred than his football skills and instincts. If he could just throw a decent fade pass, the niners have another sb trophy.

As much as we hate on the national media for doubting brock, gotta give credit to chris canty. He's been recognizing him as top 10 since the steeler game

Jimmy Graham calls him top 5. I think he sees a young Drew Brees. Because they are the same size, great at processing, anticipation, reads and throw with accuracy. Because he played with Brees.

There are a few people out there that have been raving about him. To me, it's clear who has actually watched Brock and who just catches the game notes. If anyone watched him play, and I mean a full game or even a couple games, they'd clearly be singing his praises if they know anything about football.

so I don't take a lot of the media serious, they don't watch all the games and def not the 49ers since they're a west coast team.

Probably that he could have completed that pass to McCaffrey lmao. Or that the first deep ball wasn't perfect. But I mean ffs the guy had a 97.2 QBR. Anyone trashing him after a near perfect performance like that loses their football card.

Did you see what the PFF guys said about him? The week 4 review for the game the little bald guy was trying to say that Purdy was trying to split the safeties with the deep pass to BA and that it was fortunate that he was do bad off target on that pass or else it would've been picked off. It seems pretty obvious that he was leading Aiyuk away from the safeties and almost overthrew Brandon.

He is playing great but no one is perfect. He mad a bad throw and it worked out. Great for the 49ers.

That wasn't a bad throw, that was throwing the reciever open.

If you consider the contract, I wouldn't trade Purdy for any QB right now. Having a guy perform at his level on a 7th round rookie pay is unfair to the rest of the league, lol.

Nah. He still hasn't checked that box for when the team is down by 4 scores late in the 4th quarter and has to throw 5x 50 yard bombs to lead the team to victory yet. You know, like Mahomes, Allen and Hurts do every other game.

You live in a fantasy world LOL

If we're down by 4 I don't think Kyle is going to draw up 5 x 50 yarders.

Give me this version of Purdy blowing out teams with only 20 pass attempts. These 30 and 40 pass attempts by the likes of Stafford is actually concerning because it means his team is desperate. This is modern football and rarely do you see guys with that much pass attempts. It usually means they are losing.

We can argue Purdy doesn't put his team in that position. We're not a desperate team.

Yep, for those who didn't get to experience those days, if they are young whippersnappers, lol..this is what watching Steve Young was like. I was just thinking this yesterday, it's the exact feeling I had in the 90s. That excitement and feel good, fuzzy all over vibes haha. Not sure how to describe it haha just damn exciting lol. The football buzz, haven't felt that in a long time & almost forgot what it was like! This is Steve Young buzz feels! This is good times indeed lol.
