Yup, Mac Jones sucks.

And let me be clear on this:

I still much rather the three first rounders for Lance over Mac at 12 or wherever we were originally slotted, Purdy or no Purdy.

Jones is GARBAGE.

Mac has shown to be a poor mans Jimmy G. He's not even in close to the same level as Purdy.
Tua would be the best foil for Brock in this offence.

Jones can gtfo

Brock was making tight window anticipation throws Sunday night. I hope the football world saw how he isn't simply dinking his way down the field and relying on the YAC Bros to do the heavy lifting.
After a couple passes got batted down early, I thought that was going to be the gameplan for DAL. Luckily that didn't hold up, but it could be something to watch for as teams come up with ways to try and slow down Brock.

The one thing I'll say and it's not to defend him, although I did at times here, but Jimmy didn't "fail badly".

Did he do some dumb things sometimes? Sure.

Did the offense make things look harder than it should have been when he lead it? Absolutely.

But that said, he was a competent NFL starting QB for us and at times even really good. If he wasn't the Raiders wouldn't have bothered with signing him to that deal.

Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard failed badly in this system, although again both showed flashes. Brian Hoyer failed badly in this system- at least with us. He actually made it work for him in Cleveland.

I don't even know that Lance failed badly. He just got Wally Pipped by Brock. But at least we have the makings of something great in him.

Nick Wright's hair plugs must be growing the opposite direction and affecting his brain.

"And those hair plugs are just so awful to look at." "I know."

damn it feels good to have a QB
Back when we had to decide between Joe or Steve, it had crossed my mind wishing we have a guy that has qualities of both guys. It looks like we finally have one in Brock. The calm processing and vision of Joe with the mobility of Steve, mixed in the moxie of Garcia. Altogether we have a guy that can make the right decisions most of the time every game, maximizing Kyle's offense.

Is he the guy on Around The Horn on ESPN?

First Things First (on FS1, though, I have never watched it anywhere other than on YouTube)

w/ Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wiles. Great show, all of these guys are good and they have great chemistry.

Nick has some outlandish takes every now and then, which feature highly disingenuous arguments, especially about Brock Purdy and Michael Jordan. But he's mostly okay.

I'm old enough to remember during the off season when he would throw picks in practice and that meant Trey should be given a chance to start. Lol

I'm old enough to remember people pissed Kyle for not giving Trey a "fair chance" to compete for QB1 spot.

I believe they were saying he wasn't given a fair chance to compete for QB2. Understandable if true, given the more expensive contract and fact that Darnold's play style is a lot closer to Purdy's, meaning fewer adjustments in the case of an injury.

But Trey showed he wasn't ready by how he responded to losing the competition. He didn't have the mettle to stick with it, and instead requested an excuse from practice followed by a trade request.

At the start of training camp, when Kyle announced the QB rep plan, some people were not happy that Trey basically wasn't given a chance to be QB1.

Agree 💯%, and I just have to comment on Brock's arm strength. Those three deep throws were on target and were on flat trajectories. I really think folks are underrating Brock's arm strength. He's not even (in my opinion) using 💯% of his arm to get it to (for example) the Aiyuk and Jauan passes. To me, it felt like he was using about 75% and the touch, timing and anticipation did the rest. When throwing those deep passes, he's not taking a pitcher's heave and taking a running start like a javelin throw. He's just easily throwing it with a good solid base and a nice arm throwing motion, and nothing is being stressed to the limit, in my opinion.

One other QB that hasn't thrown interceptions yet this year is CJ Stroud. Guess who is his offensive coordinator? Bobby Slowik, Purdy's old passing coach.

People saying stuff like Mac Jones being able to do the same things as Purdy in the Niners offense are looking at physical attributes and not the whole package. It's the same reason so may are reluctant to see Purdy as a top QB

If you just look at the physical stuff maybe he's in the lower half of the league. The thing is, QB is about more than being able to run a 4.4 forty or throwing the ball 60 yards in the air. Brocks ability to process what he sees after the snap is as good or better than anyone in the league. He's very smart and has been able to learn and understand NFL defenses really quickly. Some of the physically gifted guys never do.

Purdy has a lot stronger arm and is much more accurate and processes the game better than Jones. Honestly it looks like Jones doesn't even want to be in New England, he's been half assing it the past two games. If I was Belichick I would cut his ass asap!!!

Jimmy's got last year's 6-11 raider team, to .500 last night. Not a bad job for a *supposedly* just another guy kind of QB.
