QB Brock Purdy Thread

In retrospect, Brock was out to prove to the world he could, not only play in the NFL, but play at a high level. That big ass chip on his shoulder for being the last pick of the draft. Dude looked like he'd been in the offense the last 4 years rock'n rolli'n. Just an amazing moment for all of us, from the lowest of lows in losing Jimmy. And then the Tampa game just tells me he ain't no fluke.

I never even heard of this Ruiz guy until his awful take and I hope I never hear of him again. Lol he honestly is probably just saying this outlandish stuff because he knows it'll give him more publicity
gotta say it brings more pub to The Ringer, but it also comes at the cost of invalidating everything done by the Ringer, I don't think it's worth it
he got a new tweet up, BP oriented, of course
genuinely interested in the results here:

you're starting a team from scratch. contracts would be the same. who are you taking?
The only reason anyone would pick Fields is because they're either a complete idiot or racist.

Mina Kimes, on the other hand, has been awfully quiet lately regarding Purdy. She usually tweets during prime time games, but had nothing to say this Sunday night. She shares Orlovskys opinion that he's just a product of Kyles system. Probably waiting for Purdy to have a bad game so she say, "aha! see it's all Kyle"
Who is Mina and what football team did she play for?
Careful you might get cancelled like Jeff Garcia.
That's right! Forgot about that. I shouldn't question her knowledge about the game.
Purdy is mid and just a product of Kyles scheme and weapons.
More importantly than that, she's hot, which is why I watch her.

It wasn't an unreasonable take when you consider the history of 7th round QB's in the draft. You wouldn't go broke by betting against them every time. Purdy is absolutely the exception to the rule thus far.

Cause the nfl meta is QBs that are athletic and can make flashy plays. Brock is a robot that is so efficient and the whole nfl world can't comprehend that even though that's what Brady has been doing for 2 decades.
If BP is the next big thing he will need his adversary.
Brady had his P Manning, and when Manning retired, it was Brady v Mahomes.
we may be entering the Purdy / Hurts era
You haven't heard of Patrick Mahomes? I think Hurts hit his ceiling last year. Numbers are way down this year and I don't see him as a long term great QB. Just my opinion.
Agreed. The eagles tried to make him a dropback passer to start the season. The game against the patriots, he was not seeing the field well and was holding onto the ball too long. The MIN game he again was holding onto the ball too long and throwing into double coverage. They have decided to lean heavily on Swift and that run game ever since. The LAR game, Hurts was back to being the eagles part time running back. Honestly, there is no difference between Fields and Hurts. You put Fields on the eagles and vice versa and they are the same exact teams.

Within a few throws of the game, I could see I was so wrong lol.

I think we were 7-4 at the time but right when Jimmy went down I said the seasons over. Never did I imagine the last pick in the draft would play that well. I'll gladly take the L there.

I remember thinking to myself "if Jimmy goes down, we are effed. Why is Kyle going with a 7th round rookie as QB2?" Lmao I love it when I'm wrong like this.
brock won me over pretty quickly. I think it sealed the deal for me when he dropped that TD bomb to CMC in the Bucs game. I was like alright, he's shown me enough - we at worst have a solid qb. But I was blown away by him on something every drive starting with the dolphins game. I just couldn't believe what I was watching, specifically the poise and decisiveness.

3rd & 2. We know where this ball would've gone in years past. You see it every game with Brock Purdy. He's not interested in the first-level route. The designs have always gotten WRs open deep. Now the 49ers have someone willing to throw it. That's why they're rolling. Simple. pic.twitter.com/MIokfYIz2r

I'm just glad we now have a QB who knows the playbook, since 2019 i said we should be beating these teams easily. we are getting there

I've never seen kyle so relaxed and happy. He looks like he's really enjoying coaching now. He obviously always loved it but he seemed so stressed and pissed off all the time - I think we all knew it was because he knew the offense should be better.
the fact he's saying that Brock is executing almost all the plays right is wild.
i wonder if this year we will exceed points he achieved in Atlanta.

Garoppolo's best season as a 49er:
— ᵏʸˡᵉ (@49ersKyle) October 11, 2023
16 starts
3,978 yards
27 TDs
13 INTs
Brock Purdy in roughly 11 starts:
2645 yards
22 TDs
4 INTs
Purdy is on pace to beat Garoppolo's 2019 performance in 2023. https://t.co/i93h782Ym5
