QB Brock Purdy Thread

Brock also has the NFL in regards to efficiency on throws outside the numbers AND inside the numbers. Also incredible.

the first five games of this year have been insane by the offense.

So this season, so far, the 49ers are using playaction at a league average rate? I think in years past they've been one of the league leaders in playaction. Kyle doesn't need playaction to make the passing game hit downfield anymore. Just let Brock work with straight dropbacks and be surgical.

I thought they showed last game on TV they were 3rd...Miami 1.

We can't cut him. If we need to keep 3 QBs, so be it. He's too valuable as a quality cheap backup with future trade value.

Here's my first post in this thread. Just before cut downs in 2022.

Here's mine:

I thought he was going to be such a great player for us that I never once opened up his thread. Lol

im not gonna lie, when I saw we selected him - I thought it was a wasted pick. I said to myself "why a QB? A guy this late is most likely not gonna make the team, especially since we just paid a guy $2M guaranteed. Should of nabbed a player that we could of developed and/or used on special teams"

LOL boy was I wrong. Glad to be too. I didn't actually look into him or anything, I just assumed that based on the last pick in the draft. Thank baby infant toddler Jesus that I'm not the GM.
I predicted a fast start for the offense and after the 1st qtr of the season, it's looking like it. Got that weird sense that Brock's fast upstart last year would rub off the team. In a sense, Brock wanted to prove to everyone that he can play consistently at a high level especially after the surgery, and the vets willing to up their game to help him. And in return, Brock wants to play at the highest level to help these vets win the SB they so coveted.

This team seemed really focused this year. More than any previous year. It's going to be amazing

I think it was easy for the team to get off to a stronger start this year, outside of having way better quarterback play, but because the Denver and Chicago loss haunted us seeding wise.

so they want to win early and often to control their own destiny. Kyle also did some new stuff prep wise to start the season, looks like it paid off.

It's wonderful. For the first time since we've had Shanahan, we finally get to see his true offense and a QB who can run it

100%. What a fun team to watch. Best it's been.

No more clenching or white-knuckling while the ball is in air.

It's a liberating feeling.

I remember when Montana and Young stepped back and threw the ball immediately, it felt like a big play was about to happen. And about 95% of the time it did. It was such an amazing feeling as a fan. I haven't had that feeling about a Niners QB until with Purdy now. You can tell he has read the defense before the play and knows exactly where to go with the ball.
When was the last time we converted a 10yds holding call on the very next throw lol

I see it often late 80's in the juggernaut years

There was an undrafted guy back in (I think) 2020 named Brock Rutter, he's up in (I think) the Canadian Football League now. When Purdy was first drafted and I saw the name Brock, for a split second I thought they brought him (Rutter) back for a 2nd year. Heh. Those were the days...

Nice pick. It´s the 7th round, you´ re not gonna find all timers. At least this guy has something. He´s a fun player. Has some mobility which is good for this offense. Maybe he can make the team who knows.

In 20 years we will have an NFL special on all the QBs drafted before Purdy.
Haha! page 4 of this thread.

Seriously though, if Kyle can get his QB factory up and running (he already has a RB factory - Example Brieda) that's big draft capital he can convert these day three picks to. They had three day 3 compensatory picks this past draft and I don't know how they got them, but I suspect a part of it was ShanaLynch's ability to develop players like Laken (who was a 5th round trade) and get compensation for him. This Purdy, guy, if they can trade him for a 5th rounder in a couple of years - that's a grand slam in my book.
Well, how do you feel about this now?.

I remember posting this (I think) at or just after the 2022 Draft. I didn't know much about him, nor have seen him play in college, but I definitely was interested in him in Preseason. When I saw him in preseason, I really wanted Kyle to keep him and thank god he did. As for the 2 second round pick, hell no. I'd want at least three years of the entire rounds (1 through 7) before I'd even think of letting Purdy go.

Yeah, it's a beautiful thing! I knew this offense could be better but I honestly didn't realize how much Jimmy was holding back this offense. Part of the offenses improvement is CMC, no doubt, but I think brock has essentially made this Offense unstoppable if they're playing well. What he brings with his decision making, Pre/Post snap reads, anticipation, and accuracy is... its literally unstoppable if the Oline holds up and everyone is insync.

I liked Jimmy, and still do to an extent, but watching Brock and watching Jimmy - I realize that Jimmy was holding this team back a lot more than I realized.

You can tell just by how much happier and relaxed kyle looks that his offense is being executed to near perfection. LOL Jimmy was adding years of aging to Kyle by how he was playing - no wonder there was so much friction.

If someone said that we had to trade purdy or cut off my left arm.... well good thing I'm a righty cause i'm not trading Purdy. LETS GO BABY! this is the most excited and happy I've ever been with the 49ers (I didn't see young or Montana live). I literally think about the team every day and can't wait until the games. lol we keep seeing so many amazing things - it's like a drug.

It's funny to go back and look at the takes and perspective. I don't fault anyone for thinking this would be a no body pick, it's just funny is all. The team didn't even expect to get what they've got. Lol

If Purdy was actually honest he'd admit he didn't expect this either.

He saw it coming, it's like TB first thing he said to Kraft is he introduced himself and said he's the best decision this org has ever made. Confidence and leadership go hand in hand. He has the mamba mentality.

In his interviews just after being picked by the 49ers, he basically said he just wanted a shot. Not only did he get a shot, but he got on a team that had a great history and tons of talent already before he came. A lot of the Iowa State Fans that watched him throughout college have been happily surprised that he's doing so well in the NFL. Not many of them thought he'd be a starting caliber player - the way he is now. Many of them thought he'd be something like a Chad Pennington, forever backup.
