I'm gonna take this moment to point out that Joe Burrow went 14-31 for 82 yards against the defense, and they didn't have to deal with the same horrid weather.

Sometimes you just get beat. And against Dallas, just about everything went our way. I doubt we are truly 32 points better than the Cowboys on average, so Kyle either overachieved there or we got lucky, or he underachieved against Cleveland or we weren't so lucky.........or maybe a mixture of both.
I just knew that last kick wasn't gonna be made, it would've been wrong if it did. It felt like this game was lost early to mid 3rd quarter.
It's about what happens, and is the coach putting the team is the best position
I had ppl who aren't even 49er fans, telling me our coach effed up, by sitting it down once we got in FG range. You can agree or disagree, but that's the conservatism.
KS is gifted a SB level roster and is an elite coach, but no one is above making a bad decision, or being called out for it. It's debatably a good decision, as the CLE D was winning the day, and maybe a holding puts us way out of FG range, but I prefer going for the win, rather than laying up and playing for a long rook kicker win, I have more faith in Brock tbh

He was also injured and effectively immobile.
Great defense regardless.

Kickers are routinely making 60 yard fg's now. Moody has to hit a 41 yarder. If Moody can't be counted on from inside 50 then he shouldn't be on this team.
The way Brock was throwing it I did NOT have faith in him yesterday. Even on that final drive he was missing throws he makes in his sleep.

To me that is going for the win, and is SOP for coaches once they are comfortably in range… which they certainly were with a 41 yarder.
Going forward, based on this game, maybe you consider the risk of running another play or two. But looking backwards, it was completely understandable.

If we can play that bad against a great defense, in terrible conditions and still have a chance to win I think it's pretty good actually. Much less bad than people are thinking.
We were playing against an XFL QB though
Yeah, PJ Walker played like s**t and was worse than Purdy. Let's not pretend he added anything positive to the Browns yesterday.
People keep saying we lost to an xfl qb when all walker did was throw for zero TDs and two INTs. Despite the weather and the really good browns defense purdy still put his team in position to make a game winning 41 yard FG.

I think, and perhaps the analytics reveal this as correct, fortune favors the bold
it's like his notorious plus territory punt in the NFCCG, where he lowered our win percent considerably
there is also the subtle nature of communicating a lack of belief in wrs, QB, ol, etc. maybe you can interpret this as belief in the kicker. but I think the former have to be given every opportunity to do their job, before the latter gets to

Yea, their running game was the strength of the offense on the day by far. That hiccup aside I thought our D more than did their job. Two turnovers on the opponents side of the field… one that lead directly to the go ahead TD. Got a nice hold and FG attempt after Purdy's pick. Gave our offense a chance at the end of the game after getting screwed twice by the refs.

Yea I don't see it that way at all. The title game punt was egregiously conservative IMO. It has been our MO for years prior to this season where we have a minimal sample of being better.
Safely setting up a GW field goal at 40 yards is absolutely standard practice, not factoring that our QB was having trouble gripping the ball, as were our WRs, and their defense was stuffing us.

And Brock was limited by horrid weather, so I consider that a wash. Point is, neither one will be defined by their games against the Browns this season.

Wasn't as bad as our game. September doesn't carry the same cold, and that matters.

Definitely not. Bad games are going to happen to every QB.
I am a little concerned about wet games in the future but I trust the team will do everything in their power to adjust for it, whether that be gloving up or a different style of attack. The struggle was obvious.

So you consider a light rain on the same level as a leg injury? Interesting.

Look at the game SJ
Hopkins missed earlier
Moody missed earlier
Moody is a rook, in a sort of bad weather game, on the road, he got iced (like did all preseason and sucked after the TO),
I also have a theory, that do or die FGs are converted at a lot lower rate, than a typical FG, cuz it's not a typical FG
nothing safe about it
