Relax so9moon

He played well, and is much better than Jimmy. The hate he's getting today is stupid.

Yup. After the game, the excuse from both Kyle and Brock was that he tried to float it over the DB. I just can't buy it. The DB had already attained sufficient depth before the ball was thrown. In other words, the ball shouldn't even have left his hand.

I said this last night, but Purdy did stuff like this in college. Would sometimes implode with completely erratic throws—not unlike someone else who recently quarterbacked this team. You can scheme guys open all you want, but when your QB makes poor choices, you're going to lose.

We need to hope Brock grows. But something to keep in mind: There are a lot of folks who will tell you that Brock got progressively worse in college, not the other way around.

Ton of balls floating out there, not just that throw as well. Poor excuse on their part.

yeah I'm not giving up on Brock after two poor games. Like every young QB there's gonna be bumps in the road. They did anoint him after just a couple games, so he's the guy regardless.

This is the most painful of all, because after 13 games I really thought "surely it's not a mistake or a fluke…" it was

This team will never find a franchise QB again in my lifetime.
So a one bad 4th quarter trumps all the good Purdy has previously done and proves he's a fluke talk about a rush to judgement.

Purdy only plays well when we are leading or to an extent when the game is tied. That's it.

Not a franchise QB. Brady, Mahomes or Seahawks Russell Wilson wins last night's game blindfolded. Franchise quarterbacks get game-winning drives when they're supposed to.
So your saying franchise QBs never come up short on game winning drives?

Didn't Purdy lead a last minute drive just last week that put this team in position to win?

If memory serves me Purdy has had 3 opportunities to lead game winning drives in his very short career & in 2 of the 3 he helped put the team in fg range only to have the kicker miss a fg.

Getting a team in FG range with 2 minutes or less for a winning kick is fairly easy the way today's game is played. Getting a winning TD is another matter. You can't just keep taking all the underneath stuff that the D always seems to allow on final drives. Sooner or later you have to hit a big one. We all know how much tighter things get when you get inside the 10 or the 5. The DBs don't have as much ground to cover and the receivers don't have room to maneuver.

Purdy threw 2 bad INTs in the final 5 minutes of the game.

So he couldnt get it done in the first game he was in that situation. So thats a wrap then? Hes not a franchise qb? time to move on? hire shannon sharpe to find our next qb?

I literally laughed out loud at this, great comment. People are WAY overreacting holy s**t.
I still believe in you brock!...kind of.

He had a great game for the first 55 minutes of the game and then the two last drives ended with an interception.
The first interception was really on him. Too ambitious specially with Jennings seemingly not knowing what he had to do. Purdy shouldn't have thrown that pass. Just make the pass to Juice who was wide open. Purdy is great at throwing with anticipation I know but sometimes just take the easy road.
The last interception, he had to make a play, no timeout, only 30 seconds. There was no one in the flat that could have helped him, the O-Line was beaten again, a LB prevented him for running. Still just make a throw away and wait for the next down.
It sucks but he will learn from that.

At the end of the day, if CMC didn't have a fumble in the redzone and if Moody made his easy 40 yards field goal, there's your missing 6 points for the win. And it really should have been 10 points.
Honestly, I thought Purdy was really good until the last two drives. Best Niners player on the field. Made some plays outside of the pocket, avoided sacks for the most part, wasn't affraid under pressure, beat the blitz. He looked quicker even than usual. But yeah the two interceptions.
I would worry a little bit if we weren't in the usual "Can the 49ers play with their brains and can Kyle Shanahan stop outcoaching himself?" period of the season.
I mean 5-2 is way better than 3-4 last season or the wonderful 3-5 two seasons ago.
Purdy is fine honestly. 23 years old and he's playing like that on the road after last week, I'm impressed honnestly.
He's not a guy that will do those interceptions over and over again.
I just hope Kyle helps him a little bit and doesn't start thinking about his crush Sam Darnold.

Every QB goes through some ups and downs. For BP, It's Important to shake It off and respond with a good game against the Bengals.

I still believe he's good enough to win a super bowl In time.
A lot of the guys in here crapping on brock were Trey defenders. Thats ok, I was too I really wanted Trey to be the guy for us, and I defended him after the loss to the Bears. Why can't we give Brock the same leeway after all the positives he has shown in all the wins we have had with him thus far. This is the first time ever where we can point to him and say "you lost us this game" (even tho it was more the defense's fault)

…we already said this last week after the Browns game.

I was never a Trey defender. I was simply a "I want a franchise QB" guy. Still want and looking for one.

I think it's fair to look at it game by game. They went all in with Brock and of course there's gonna be bumps in the road. He still doesn't have a full season worth of football under his belt.

But if we're looking at it game by game, some of those things I questioned are popping up the past two weeks. Those turnover-worthy throws that weren't getting picked last yr…have been the past couple games. The lack of arm talent with the gunslinger mentality isn't a positive overall.

But yeah kid is still a pup and learning. It's not always gonna be rainbows and unicorns, we as fans gotta realize that.

he's either gonna improve or he's not as the season goes. I think he's got the mind set to play good ball. I don't think the overall skill set will ever allow him to be a special QB though. We will see, I'm not giving up over a couple games…that's silly.

How was it more the defenses fault? We only gave up 22 points in total. We had the ball twice with a chance for a go ahead score at the end of the game and Brock threw it to the defense twice. Did the defense play well? No, but putting all of the blame on them is ridiculous when the offense could only manage 17 points.

what wrong has brock done prior to the last 2 games has shown that he is definitely not a franchise guy? franchise guys all go through rough patches. all of them do. how bout we just wait and see?

Yup. He just can't make the dumb mistakes because he doesn't have the skills the elite guys have to make those plays outta nothing.

See what he does by end of season. We will have a better idea then.

I find it absurd that fans would be so reactionary that a QB can't have any bit of adversity before fans just f**king give up on him. You all look like toddlers who sway any which way the wind blows. Have some f**king balls to stick with a guy when things inevitably don't go perfectly. Jesus, do people really expect him to play like an elite QB every week without fail? Even elite QBs have multiple stinkers every season. Further, and I can't stress this enough, Purdy was nearly flawless in the first half, so we're really only talking about two drives where he s**t the bed. Let's have some perspective and be patient with a young QB who has shown such promise that some rope is warranted.

The Vikings DOMINATED time of possession. They were concerting third down after third down. Thats on the defense. They gave up a BS TD right before the end of the half. The offense moved the ball almost every drive. If Moody makes that first one and Mccaffrey doesn't fumble, we potentially have 10 more points by the 4th quarter
