At the end of the day it is true that if Brock wants to be elite and a franchise guy, he needs to overcome and win in moments when the defense and other things around him arent going well. Last night really was the first time he has ever been in that spot, at the pro level at least, and he failed. But that is ok in the long run as long as he uses the situation as data to learn from and be successful the next time he is in that spot.

For many things in life, not just football, in order to succeed you must fail first.

So your saying franchise QBs never come up short on game winning drives?

Didn't Purdy lead a last minute drive just last week that put this team in position to win?

If memory serves me Purdy has had 3 opportunities to lead game winning drives in his very short career & in 2 of the 3 he helped put the team in fg range only to have the kicker miss a fg.

Getting a team in FG range with 2 minutes or less for a winning kick is fairly easy the way today's game is played. Getting a winning TD is another matter. You can't just keep taking all the underneath stuff that the D always seems to allow on final drives. Sooner or later you have to hit a big one. We all know how much tighter things get when you get inside the 10 or the 5. The DBs don't have as much ground to cover and the receivers don't have room to maneuver.

Purdy threw 2 bad INTs in the final 5 minutes of the game.

So he couldnt get it done in the first game he was in that situation. So thats a wrap then? Hes not a franchise qb? time to move on? hire shannon sharpe to find our next qb?

At this point I think we can forget about ever finding a franchise QB with this regime. Soooo many chances and not a single one has panned out. Same under Harbaugh.

Montana and Young used up all our good QB karma and this season has been the exclamation point on proving that.

You would have given up on Steve after his first year as our starter

Young won MVP his first season as our starter lol

And then threw 2 interceptions in the NFC Championship game vs Dallas I guess that MVP was a fluke.

Trey Lance only threw that many passes in college because HE WASN'T A REAL QB. He was a power running back taking snaps. His lack of attempts are a knock on him, not a defense.

The fact of the matter is, QBs develop from practice, not games. They throw thousands more balls in practice than they do in games.

That's why players who sit on the bench look like veterans when they come in.

You can not name a single example of a QB who improved from a certain game in a season to another game in a season. That has never happened in the history of the NFL. QBs improve season to season, not game to game.

Lance also has zero potential. He shows literally no tools whatoever. Saying he could be a good QB with playing time is like saying Jauan Jennings could. Actually, worse, since Jennings is still faster than Lance.
