i personally dont care what the media says, I just know it plays a factor in pro bowl/awards. I'd love to finally have a pro bowl QB. 😍

Unfortunately nobody wants to wait 2 or 3 years before they start proclaiming that this guy or that guy is an all time great. Performances can go up or down based on injuries and the overall makeup of the team. Even schedules. After 3 seasons or so most QBs will have faced nearly every team in the league. There will be enough info to really get a true evaluation.

Three seasons ago it looked like Josh Allen had turned the corner and was about to be an elite QB. Her was completing almost 70% of his passes and his INT % was 1.7. Since then his INT % has gone up every season to 3.1 % this season. His completion % dropped to 63% in 2021 and 2002. Now it's at 70% again. So who is he?

I like what I see with Brock but he still has less than one full season in the books. A lot can change in the next couple of years. I can wait before I start calling him our franchise QB.

I 100% agree that it's still too soon to crown Brock. I do think he's played excellent this year and we stumbled into a special player, but still a lot to prove.

need to see how he manages the ups and downs of a few seasons, I understand that.

i also don't think anyone who's played less than 5-6 years should be eligible to be in the Convo for "best completion percentage of all time for a career". That's ridiculous. Lol especially when you have guys like Bree's and Brady who played across multiple decades and the way the games changed.

Overall, I love Brock and couldn't be more excited to watch him every week but he still has a long way to go.

i think Josh allen is awesome but I believe he misses Daboll, which I've maintained since he left. That guy kept Allen's mechanics tight and the play calling kept him from going crazy. Ken Dorsey was letting Allen throw it deep over and over again, putting everything on allen. He needs more help. Ridiculous they can't find a decent running back. Lol
I feel like fans outside the 49ers can't seem to fathom how a QB without great size and a rocket arm can be this successful. So their immediate conclusion is -- he can't, it has to be everyone else around him. Purdy also still moved the ball without Deebo and Trent, we just were in bad spots playing from behind and unfortunately he forced a few things as a 2nd year guy.

None of it makes any sense though. Not the size size, the arm stuff, or the weapons stuff.

Every QB needs at least one weapon. We saw how Mahomes was without Kelce. Hurts has Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, and weapons all over the field on offense. Dak has weapons everywhere. Tua has weapons everywhere. So does Lamar and Burrow. I mean shoot, the Bengals probably have best WR trio in the NFL. I don't think there's a single QB in the top 15 that are out there playing with scrubs across the board at WR/TE/RB.

However, Brock is playing with average OL outside of Trent. Dude is special. On another note, I do think Stroud looks like a real special talent too, over there in Houston.

People are just uninformed, tbh. Anyone that claims you need special gifts at the QB position to be great, just flat out doesn't understand how the QB position works. It also isn't like Brock is 5'9 with a Shaun hill type arm - he is 6'2 with a ridiculously powerful and quick lower body and an above average arm with some really nice zip, great accuracy, and great anticipation.

when we see guys like Brady, Bree's etc - it's their mind, character, work ethic etc that makes them special.

Qb position is essentially the only position in football where having special physical gifts doesn't necessarily translate to being elite. Sure it's nice to have a qb who has great physical gifts, but it's really not the most important thing.

leadership, work ethic, spacial awareness, character etc etc - essentially all things that are hard/impossible to accurately measure right now, aka the way someone thinks and processes… is the most important aspect of playing qb (assuming their physical skills are where they need to be).

there is a minimum as to what a guy needs to have in order to play the position, but once those are met - the upside of the QB is more within his mind, work ethic, progressions, character etc.

we've been over this a million times but it just comes down to the fact that most "fans" don't really understand the game on a granular level and see guys like Mahommes or allen and think that's the only way to do it. Which is just ridiculous. Lol I'll take Bree, Brady, montana etc over 99.9% of QBs in nfl history.

the question is what happens when you combine BP, elite weapons, Kyle holding the playsheet, and a top D
that's when things get Super, if you catch my drift

I've been pleasantly surprised with Brock's arm strength. I think, especially after the injury, and the time it takes to ramp the strength back up, that he's made some really high level throws to the sideline and down the field. Of course no one would mistake his arm for a canon, but it's far from a handicap. It sounds like whatever work he did prior to the draft to add more velocity has carried through to his early career.

If the range is noodle to canon, I'd call it a sling shot, perhaps a trebuchet.
