For the dorks among you, the actual mathematical cap for passer rating, if you ignore the NFL's imposed highest limit of 158.3, is 831.25, which occurs when you throw one pass for 99 yards and a touchdown:
((((1/1 - 0.3) x 5)+((99/1 - 3) x .25)+((1/1) x 20)+(2.375 - (0/1) x 25))/6)*100 = 831.25.
It seems really weird they chose 158.3 as the magic number. How about 200? How about 150? Why such a weird number rather than a round number? I'm sure there's an explanation.
Regardless, 158.3 has been reached like dozens of times in NFL history, so what Brock did today was very special.
