QB Brock Purdy Thread

I'm not saying a strength is most important thing, but when people talk about arm strength it's not that they're talking about how far someone can throw. Literally every QB who has ever played in the NFL, EVERY ONE of them, can "throw the ball 60 yards in the air".

The value in an elite arm is you can be slightly late, you can fit things in that above average arms can't. I agree Brock can make every throw, just as every NFL QB "can make every throw", but how quickly it gets on someone is what they're talking about.

I think purdy probably had a mid level NFL arm. No shame in that
He's gotta be the guy for the next 15 years, right? Surely we finally found that franchise QB? What are the odds he falls off a cliff like Foles did in mid-2014? Has to be getting smaller and more unlikely every week. I was worried that three game skid was the start of it but he shattered records these last two games in a major way that undid that skid.

Foles may have had one of the best single seasons in nfl history

No. It was 10 starts for Foles in 2013. No one had really done any study on Chip Kelly's system so teams were caught off guard. 2,891 yards, 27 TD's, and 2 INT's. Great stats yes but not really a "season." And Foles never came close to duplicating that in any other season. Purdy has already done this across two different seasons, and after a major injury. I understand the comparison but if you really dig just a little, it's not close.

why don't we take it one data point at a time, and enjoy the ride

Foles was part of a gimmick system IMO. Not necessarily showing the ability to read and recognize defenses and quickly go through progressions.

Brock's production could take a hit with lesser surrounding talent, but that's normal. He shows good ability in the skills that allow QB's to be successful long term.

He's the real deal. Purdy will be here for a long time IMO.

Fair enough lol. I'm just so desperate to finally have that guy. Our own Tom Brady, or Drew Brees, or Patrick Mahomes, or Aaron Rodgers. Someone who gives us hope that we'll be a contender every year. We've been burned so many times now. 2011 Alex Smith, 2012 Kaepernick and 2019 Jimmy G all looked like "that" guy… until they weren't. After the Vikings loss I was dreading that we were bamboozled again! I'm just so paranoid haha.

Honestly just hate hearing him speak, lol.

And his family sucks. Kermit deserves better.

They are one and the same.

that's the reality, I thought CK was The Truth, back when Suggs was crowning him as such, he was running for 170 and throwing for 400, thought we were gonna run the league with Kaep lol

Didn't help that the organization imploded around him. Imagine Steve f'ing Logan wasn't the answer, lol.

Kaepernick's problem was that he never learned how to PLAY THE POSITION, which isn't to say he didn't have some decent traits. Brock seems to understand how to play QB in the NFL. Not everyone who reaches that position does.
Kap never learned what a progression is let alone how to progress through them.
