Does this sound like a coach who "wants his QB to be aggressive?" Lol

I'm pretty sure it was. I'd have to see another slowed down replay to say for sure but the replay they did show, it looked like the DLine man just barely touched it.
I've watched the replay a few times and do not see a LOS tip. The ball looks clean. There is one angle, where you can see Kittle open in the seam, and 99% sure the pass was intended for Kittle. McCaffrey sees it and things it's an errant pass and reaches up and behind him and tips it to the defender.

Look at this angle. If you play it in slow mo, you'll see the ball goes over the seattle DL and doesn't change trajectory. I think it was close and looked like a tip.

Youtube: Purdy's Better Than Jimmy G. And It's Not Close.

The biggest difference between Jimmy and Brock is that Jimmy could not be aware of the pocket around him AND the receivers downfield simultaneously, and Brock can. Simple as that.

Jimmy was either trying to escape a sack while completely ignoring the receivers, or he was looking at the receivers and then getting suddenly enveloped by the pass rush. Brock keeps his eyes downfield and can feel the pocket while he does it. He has a natural ability to find the escape hatch without thinking much about it, so he is always watching the play develop.

He also anticipates where receivers and defenders are going to be very rapidly. Jimmy always threw behind his WR because he wasn't throwing to where they were going to be, he was throwing to where they were when he released the ball. Notice how Brock always hits guys in stride, while Jimmy's throws were always late, and even wide open guys had to come back to, and wait for the ball to make the catch.

Jimmy throws hospital balls.

What did it for me was an easy pass to Kittle and he threw it high and kittle got a knee injury from it. You guys know what play I'm talking about too.

Agree, and I'll just add that I think another big difference between Jimmy and Brock is simply Brock is just more accurate than Jimmy. His accuracy is insane. It's like Drew Brees has been put in a 49er uniform. That first down throw to Ray Ray to end the game, was just so soft and placed so accurately that Ray Ray didn't even break stride or have to reach out to the ball. It was thrown so softly even NY85 could have caught that ball!
He is him.

Agree that I didn't see the Tip either. I'll just add that the pocket was collapsing also. It looked like Banks was almost at Brock's lap (in a sense) when Brock threw the pass. The Seattle DLine did a good job squeezing the pocket and Brock didn't have a lot of places to step up and throw on that play.

I wonder if part of that pick is the fact that Kittle goes a bit freelance on his routes from time to time. It looks like Purdy didn't quite know what to trust as Kittle makes his break, and double clutches somewhat. Just speculating.

Bad throw(two in a row) but it is what it is. He made the throws that mattered

Yeah I think he was just pressing too hard and worried about being backed up in the endzone and tried to get rid of the ball quick instead of taking a Safety. Just didn't look good on that series, but he came back and looked great.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's the first time since Seattle is in the NFC West that the Niners have won two games in a row at Seattle. And they did it both times on a Thursday night game. It's things like that, that make you think that this kid could be a special, special player for this franchise. Lumen Field was the house of horrors for the Niners for years. You could always expect the unexpectable in those games. That's two times in a row that the Niners had a really solid, good game at Lumen Field.

Its because the bad man is gone.

4-17 vs Seattle w Wilson on the team, 4-0 without.
Huge game for Brock Purdy this week as all eyes will be on his performance against the NFC #1 team at their place. This is the game the National media has been waiting on for some time to truly gauge Brock Purdy as it should be, and I'm sure he knows it too. I hope it is a CMC game like last night, but I expect Philly will do all they can to take him out of the outcome as much as they can in hopes of putting much of the responsibility on Purdy. The good news is the weakness of the Eagles defense is in their secondary so the opportunity for Brock to Aiyuk will be there.

Agree, and I just looked at the Eagle defensive stats. Eagles are number 1 against the run. Not a good thing if Kyle's offense revolves around the run. Purdy has to press on that Eagle weakness to win the game next week. It's going to be an interesting chess match on how each side approaches this next game.

From that angle it does look like it may have been intended for Kittle. What I like is that it didn't unset Purdy or the team to the point that they became unraveled. In past games in Seattle when something like that happened at the start of the half and the crowd got amped up everything would go downhill from there.
