I was watching a video earlier tonight and someone made a really good point: people think that Brock has it easy only because he makes it look easy. He has really good weapons, but he is actually making them look better as well with his elite level accuracy and ball placement. People act like Aiyuk has always been this elite receiver. When it was Jimmy out there, BA didn't have his chance to shine. Even CMC/Kittle/Deebo had to fight harder to make catches and get YAC. Jennings was barely a guy that people thought was a decent third option. Insert Brock and all of the sudden we are the second coming of the greatest show on turf.

Sports media has become obsessed with WOW plays from QBs like crazy scrambles and a guy throwing a 70 yard bomb, but how often do those things happen for a QB in a game week to week? Brock is doing all of the things that are fundamental to playing the QB position at an elite level, week in and week out. There's no gimmick to his game, there is nothing really to figure out if you're an opposing defense. There isn't a physical flaw that can hold him back. He is him, plain and simple and if you want to beat him your offense also needs to come with it's A game.

Agreed. I got the impression from Jonnydel's Eagles preview that a QB like Josh Allen... he misses reads and opportunities, which he overcomes with his physical attributes and playmaking ability. And people fall in love with that.

Meanwhile, Purdy, more often than not, makes the right read and then throws the ball with top-level anticipation. He executes the play as it SHOULD be executed.

yes

very drew brees like with better athleticism

Possibly one of his best throws of the game. Again from the far hash. Will report as personal attack on Niner Faithfuls if post implied Brock has a weak arm.

Oops, phoenix already got this, didn't lurk until I posted lol

Great game, maybe the best of his career considering the adversity.
What impressed me the most with his performance was how calm he was even during the first two drives of the game.
Jalen Hurts is the same. Looking at them, you can't really know what the score is.
I said it everytime but Purdy's biggest strenght for me is that he's always living in the present. He's never too high, never too low.
He's also the perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan. Kyle doesn't have to change his offense because Purdy is executing it at a high level and Purdy can scramble to help the team when necessary.

He is the MVP.

It is not close.

I don't know how anyone can compare his season with Hurts and still think Hurts is the front runner. Insane. Hurts is incredibly overrated this season

I got erection lasting longer than four hours so Cialis and Viagra could take the backseat to Purdy

The 49ers went 3-6, and Montana did about as much as one could ask of a QB. The defense that year was trash, and the already anemic running game was dead last in the NFL.

Again, I'm not saying to take away every single notable player, but right now, Purdy has it about as good as it's going to get. When he gets his money, which he will deservedly get by the way he's playing, it's probably gonna cost us perhaps a few of those core players. If he keeps improving, which I don't think is unreasonable, he may be able to make up for it.

Purdy will win it. Boosts draft coverage when the very last pick becomes MVP.

Jalen should be disqualified after last game. The commentator last night was all but calling him out for having 5+ seconds ttt and getting pressured / scrambling.

I'm willing to bet Philly had open receivers that were just missed and Jalen couldn't scramble to make the big play against the 9ers. That's what drives me crazy, these wow plays happen only because the QB is not functioning in the time and rhythm of the play.

Well said.

There we go. Why the uber-obsession about an individual award here?

Maybe they give it to him,.... maybe they dont.

Nah i think Brees was alot more of a precision passer while Purdy looks to be more of passer that is well prepared to take advantage of coverages, given his weapons and the offense he is in.

Maybe their size is similar but after that, I dont see many similarities.

I have to give Greg Cossell credit for the time and rythm of the play words. He's definitely one of the few who say pure QB play is more of "Wow" than the scramble drill QB play.

Greg's the man and great points all around.
