Brady was criticized for winning rings with a defense. Early in his career those Super Bowl teams were known for their defense. As you mentioned, it wasn't till he finally got Moss that he flipped the narrative.
I wouldn't even worry about it since they tried to say Joe and Steve were system guys. As of recently, they also like to bring up how they had the GOAT in Jerry Rice.
The "System QB" tag is so dumb.

It was really cool how fast that became a thing, to chant, "Purdy". When was the first time that happened, you remember? Was it Tampa? I can't remember a qb ever getting chants like that. I think it was Tampa iirc. Amazing
