the first thing about him that caught my eye when he played was his confidence, composure, and command of the huddle. It was like he had always been out there and this team always been his. It was almost like an instant match made in heaven.
i just want to see him keep it up. I love the consistency behind it so far.
Agree.
On one of his first reps in the Miami game, they showed a head-on shot of him as he came under center. The first thing he did was look up at the play clock and then begin his count. I mentioned to my wife that this was a savvy kid. Yep.
Agree 💯%, Way mature beyond his years.
This girl that I'm close with was actually at that dolphins game and we were texting during the game. I actually said to her "I don't think you realize what you're witnessing right now. Rookienqbs don't look like this, especially 7th round rooks. I can't believe what I'm seeing".
it's continued to look that way too. I was texting her today and we were talking about how 10-15 years from now, it may be like being at the game where Brady went in for Bledsoe. Not necessarily in the sense that Brady won so many chips, but just being there for the arrival of a great player when no one ever saw it coming.

"There's so many areas where I feel like I can get better, really," Purdy said. "Just within the operation of our offense, reads, being consistent. I look at that last game, at the first two drives. We were a could plays away from having our foot on the gas pedal from the jump. That's where I'm hard on myself."
As an NFL starter, Purdy has a record of 14-3, but keeping his head level came from years of work that happened before he even started high school. His strong work ethic was an important part of his four seasons as a starter in the BIG 12 conference which has helped his quick transition to the NFL.
"I've always known that this whole thing, just life in itself is just a process," Purdy said. "You can't just wake up one day, graduate high school and then be like, 'All right, I'm going to go play in the NFL in a couple years.' No, I have to go earn the respect of the guys in my college program. I've got to start. I've got to win games. I've got to get experience.
"Once I get to the NFL, there's a process of doing it all over again. And so, I've just taken it one step at a time and then once I get my opportunity all I'm focused on is trying to play quarterback and win games for the Niners and then all the other stuff sort of just happens as you go."

This kind of leadership is what gives me confidence that Brock will stay focused and in line with getting our team where it needs to be. He has that insane obsession and work ethic that you need to be a great player and leader, I hope it continues to head this way.
i loved the way he looked in the playoffs. Guys usually either get better or worse in the playoffs and he elevated his game. Gives me confidence that he can lead us all the way.
"Occasionally though, Purdy does admit taking a little time to look at how far he has come in such a short time. Mostly the quarterback just takes a moment to appreciate the journey.
"Playing in the NFL, winning some games, you do have to take a step back and be able to look at it and be thankful for what's going on," Purdy said. "But we have a bigger goal in mind, and that's where I have to stay even keel and keep chipping forward."
Staying the course would include a win on Sunday at Levi's Stadium and clinching a playoff berth. Being acknowledged by awards is nice, but winning a Lombardi is the ultimate goal."

everyone inflated their height and weight during recruiting (for just about all sports - NBA just made everyone correct their actual heights. Guys like KD have always been 7 foot plus and lebron claims to be 6'8 when he's really 6'10-11.
im not trying to say you don't know what you're talking about. I'm saying the narrative behind player heights at QB is mainly based on falsehoods that the players created to make themselves a better prospect.
so I don't consider Brock to be small, he's pretty average. I personally think that when you're under 6 foot - you're on the small side of NFL QBs. Not many fall in that catagory. We have to compare them to their peers, not normal people.
most guys we look up on their stats page for their physical height/weight are inflated (or less than weight).
it isn't like they ever measure these guys outside of the combine. There isn't an annual data NFL does to release it. It's all private info the teams have.
I use mockdraftable which charts every single player that's been at the combine & Brees is 6-1
the avg height of a NFL QB is 6'2 1/2 and 219lbs. Brock is in the 8th percentile as far as height goes and 19th percentile at weight.

look I'm a fan of Brock like everyone else. We don't need to makeup up stuff like his size isn't small for the position or he's avg lol….simply not true. Also it doesn't matter because he's playing well dispite that. Having a strong lower body helps him a ton too (much like Wilson).

Did you see the post game handshake? Brock was right there side by side with Jalen and their height is very similar. Jalen may be a smidge taller than Broc if that but does anyone ever question Jalen's height?

no but he is way more stalky and isn't a pocket QB which does make a difference

Russell Wilson made it OK not to question the lack of height as long as they consistently make the highlights running around making plays. If you play mostly traditional pocket passing, no matter how good your are, they gonna assumed you will be overwhelmed in the pocket by those taller linemen.

Purdy's combine numbers: 6' 0⅝", 212 lbs
same size as Baker. Like and inch and a half shorter than Steve young.
For some reason I've always never questioned Steve Young being 6'2" - but maybe the stats are wrong. That never occurred to me. Still, Steve was one hell of a QB.
Purdy is 6'1". Young has never been 6'2". LOL. He was 6'1" his entire career. The Wiki is totally bogus and wrong. He's not that tall. Never was. Brees was 6'0" and great. Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson are 5'10". I don't see why people obsess about it so much. You can play at that height and even be very good. Purdy is taller than some of those guys.
Height helps a bit, just like a stronger arm or a faster 40 time. But
agree, height doesn't make or break a QB. Its what is behind the ears. Personally, I'll take a good OLine vs Height any day.

Brees' hand size is the major physical difference hete... Not his height.

In 1981, the Cowboys were the best team, and the 49ers under Montana just killed them, just like Purdy destroyed the Eagles. Brock has reminded me of those days. Montana was just a 3rd year player back then. Now he's retired never having lost or thrown an interception in a super bowl. I think Purdy is approaching that level of performance.
Joe, I think, played about 15+ years. Purdy, if he decides, probably can play much longer than 15 years. What the future holds, I don't know, but I think its a lot more winning than losing games for sure.
