(This is based on people believing Brock may be willing to take less, and hoping he will. Again, I don't see people arguing he is the best QB in the league, or near it, and *deserves* less)

And then there's the comparison to Jimmy's contract based on Jimmy's motivations.

I don't really get that vibe from him. Look at how he dresses and what he drives, he's a simple man.

he will get paid. Most likely ATLEAST $50M a year but I do think there is a real chance he takes less than he can to help the team remain sustainable.

when I say less, I'm not saying he takes $25m instead of $60M. I'm saying if the market value is $65M - then I can see him taking $50M-$55M to give the team some extra room to maintain the best chance to compete for chips.

he isn't like all these guys who spend $50k a month on outfits, which is an extremely poor way of managing money, but to each their own. He seems like the type that wants to secure him and his families future. But time will tell. That's a 2 year from now problem.

Could happen. Who knows.

I do think it's safe to say we aren't going to see a 60 percent increase in QB salaries in 1.5 years.

I don't pretend to know JGs motivations, or BPs motivations. I have seen expressed a lot that he's a MVP level QB, and then hoping he takes a contract that is a big gap away from MVP level. I am just observing the gap. It is there, with a lot of fans. They want the MVP level QB, but they don't want to pay the price.

Fully aware for a few posts now, that ppl aren't suggesting he deserves less, just hoping he gives us a sweet deal..
In some ways it's smarter to take 85-90% of market value if you keep a few key people around you since it increases the odds that your next contract will be even more lucrative.

I say this as someone who thinks Purdy is easily a Top 5 QB right now.

He'll get what he gets and I'll be grateful to have him. I just look at what Mahomes is going through in KC this year and part of that is the salary cap preventing the Chiefs from being as aggressive as they want to be for the roster with Mahomes making so much. But they also got a second SB because of him, so it can still work. But it's a team sport in the end, and the gap between the top and bottom of the rosters is only growing.

Hope to pay less. Not don't want to do it if it's not an option, lol.

That's every fan of every great player on their team in a hard capped league.

I don't feel that way, I was hoping Bosa got top dollar after DPOY. Maybe it's about being a realist. I like having the best d player or one of, if that's the price, sign me up. Lot of teams would give us picks, then pay the price. We simply have to pay the price. Do you hope bums will spare you a quarter? He's probably the most underpaid asset in sports, I think that's enough of a sweet deal. Let the man get paid. I heard that sentiment with Deebo also, pay the man. You hear ppl say pay the man a lot. I'll say it when it's Brocks turn.

Again, I have no issue with paying him top dollar if he's going to continue to play like a top player at his position. I still hope he takes less because that will benefit the team.

This is the general sentiment of the fans you have said multiple times think he's a top QB but don't want to pay him like one. Those fans, myself included, will be fine if they have no choice but to do that. They're simply saying maybe he will not want that because he's a low profile guy etc… and that would be good for the team if thats the case.

It's not. There's zero statistical correlation with height and passes batted down historically. I think Josh Allen led the league the last two years and a guy like Drew Brees always had a ridiculously low rate.

Overall throwing motion seems to be an indicator, the cleaner the release, the lower the rate of passes being batted down.

just so we're clear....."to a degree".

Of course there's some correlation,....I mean we don't see any 5'7" guys on these lists for a reason.

there's certainly correlation. It's just that once your height + arm length gets past a certain point when throwing, these statics have a "diminishing return" when it comes to correlation.

oh no Drew Lock
1) Does he throw touchdowns? = YES.

2) Does he win games? = YES.

After QB's like KRAP, Alexcuses, Nick Mullens, JT O'Sullivan, Jimmy G all you guys can think about his height? For 20+ years in a row you would have killed for a QB this great.

Get over his height! You can play at that height and be great. It's been done before and it's being done right now.

i don't think anyone here cares about his height

Yeah that's what I'm saying. So guys get over it. He's taller and heavier than Drew Brees. He's about the same exact size as Steve Young on both height and weight. He's 1 inch shorter than Joe Montana with a more stocky build. He's BIG ENOUGH. You can get it done how he is doing it. Just be thankful. We have a franchise QB for the first time in 20+ years. It's absolutely great!
