At least on the webzone... twitter was another story.

I agree it was a small group. Super loud though.

Twitter was the same thing, just with larger numbers.

I don't know, I was as pro Lance as anyone in here, if for no other reason I thought it benefited the team if they had 2 great QBs. Also felt like he was dealt a tough hand here and thought the best case scenario would have been for him to start the season and blow everyone away. Had that happened we'd have likely got a lot more in trade for him than we did, but it's 100% moot at this point. I'm thrilled to finally have a FQB, savoring every game on what I truly believe to be a Super Bowl run and think people still doing victory laps over his departure should try doing the same.

I don't think your opinion was unique. There was a small group of Niners fans that shared it and were incredibly vocal about it. My position through most of those arguments was that people weren't seeing that barring a significant jump from Trey in the offseason, which nobody should have expected (especially the people arguing he should play), the argument was already over.
So happy all these false narratives about Purdy are dying off

weak arm
captain check down
all his yards come from yac
not athletic
defenses will figure him out (shout out to nick wright for that gem)
system qb

It felt like everyone on twitter wanted trey to start and predicted he'd be a star. 49ers twitter largely sucks.

Yeah, I was fine as well in keeping Lance. But the signing of Darnold IMO changed the dynamics of the backup position. You get a guy who has plenty of experience in case Purdy wasn't ready or gets injured. This is an "all in" type roster and they want to solidify the QB room in light of what happened last year including the playoffs. If we're still rebuilding they probably would have stayed patient with Lance. Or.. they saw what Purdy did and was all in on him right away even with just a handful of games. Then you add his rookie contract the next couple of years.. wow.. and continue to add players to solidify other positions. Anyway, I am just amazed how quickly he grasp Shany's system and actually made it even more explosive. Wow! MVP!

Look at that beautiful drop back. HOARD
Completely lost in the national media talk regarding Purdy is how much effort he's put into improving his game, and how that has resulted in his improved play on the field.

Worked hard to improve in the time before the draft to improve his arm strength. Worked hard to beat out Sudfield for the 3rd QB job before the 2022 season. Learned the playbook so well he was able to crash course McCaffrey on it after the trade. Worked hard to recover from his injury in order to start Week 1 2023. Worked to not just roll out left like a crazy man like he did in 2022, almost never done that so far in 2023. Worked during the bye to improve his deep passing.

People keep expecting him to regress. What if his work ethic has him being even better in 3-4 seasons? He's turning 24 in a few weeks. Average peak QB age is 29.

I thought there were more people trying to make things Brock vs Trey than there was actual Trey>Brock people. I never said anything remotely negative about Brock, but was assumed to dislike him because I defended Trey...

Worked hard to improve in the time before the draft. His arm strength improved from his college measurements. Worked hard to beat out Sudfield for the 3rd QB job. Learned the playbook so well he was able to crash course McCaffrey on it after the trade. Worked hard to recover from his injury in order to start Week 1. Worked during the bye to improve his deep passing.

I remembered people argued it would be much much harder to improve the deep throws comparing to short throws.

What they are trying to say is Trey can improve tremendously in his short throws while Brock won't be able to improved much in his deep throws.

Brock has been ridiculously accurate on his deep throws this season. That is something you typically work on during the off season before training camp (training camp would be timing with the receivers). Brock didn't really have that but was still able to improve so much.
