QB Brock Purdy Thread

Say what you will about Steven Ruiz, but this is a pretty insane stat. It doesn't really disparage what Purdy has done. It is just crazy that we're averaging almost 3 yards more per attempt on those throws than any other team and that only 3 teams have a positive EPA/play on those throws and we're #1 by a huge margin.

It is a crazy stat but it doesn't help his overall argument… which is effectively a bit at this point.

Brock Purdy is very good. The playmakers and system are as well. That's why we're one of most efficient offenses of all time across his 20 or so games. You can't be that without all those ingredients.

The film doesn't lie.

Yea, I edited my post to add a little more context. It's not an anti-Brock stat imo. Only about 14% of his passes are thrown behind the LOS and his air yards per attempt are high, so it shouldn't be seen as a negative to be productive on these throws. It just highlights another way that this offense is just operating at a crazy efficient level this year.

Except he's throwing far fewer of those passes than just about any other QB.

They're working better than in the past because defenses are playing further back, taking the deep ball seriously, which is due to Purdy being able to hit those deep passes.

Also the tweet ignores that Purdy comes in first pretty much at every level.

It's been amazing. It really was at the end of the last year too. It's right there with the greatest teams in franchise history, IMO.

I'll never think it isn't hilarious that Sherman is beloved by Niners fans, even moreso than solid players on the teams he was a part of beating, lol. Imagine telling the average Niners fan this in '13.

Why? He came into our organization and helped establish a solid defensive culture. Helped Warner become the player and leader he is today and was a solid contributor on the 2019 team. He also reps us more than Seattle and shows us a lot of love in the media. He's one of ours now.

Rookie Mac Jones was teaching him the Patriots offense.

To me, Cam was basically a Running Back playing QB. He was never a real QB to me, the way Steve, Joe, Jeff, and Alex were.

Alex?

Hated Sherm in Seattle, I was neutral with him on the 49ers, but the way he *genuinely* represents the 49ers and is clearly a 49er fan on his podcasts has won me over. It really helps that he knows the X's and O's better than 99% of the guys he works with and is so *articulate* and has a very sharp mind. If he had interests in any other field, and you can name any field - he'd probably be tops in that too - that's how intelligent I think he is.
