Able to move in and out of the pocket, avoid rushers, always keeping his eyes downfield for his guys, good sense of where the rushers coming from, anticipation, timing, accuracy with touch and catchable passes. Brees, yeah ok. Brock is even closer to Montana.
If the Niners win the SB this year he would do what Joe did in his 2nd year which would be a pretty good way to start your career. Really like this young man I think he is doing great!!!!

I thought montana won it in his third year but it was his first full year starting?

It was his 3rd year, yes.
The 23-year-old has thrown just 11 interceptions in 529 career regular-season NFL passes and lost three of 18 starts entering his Week 15 homecoming game against the Cardinals, but when Purdy has faced adversity in games, he has moved on quickly, which is vital for success. Jones saw that same level of poise from Purdy in high school.

"He's always been level-headed," Jones said. "He's able to come back after mistakes, and he's able to celebrate great plays, but yet he comes back down. He's always had that ability, which is impressive for a kid at a young age."

Purdy's maturity contradicts his youthful looks, which might be a reason that football pundits outside of 49ers headquarters are astounded by his success. Dickie believes those who actually have spoken to Purdy are instantly aware of his emotional intelligence.

"People who know him obviously know his maturity level makes him seem a lot older," Dickie said with a little laugh. "Yes, he does have a baby face, but I think it's because he doesn't grow any facial hair. I've never seen him with facial hair — I think he shaves three times a day."

LMAO

Yes that's right. He lead that big comeback against the Saints in 1980 and that helped convince Walsh to move on from DeBerg in 1981.

His 3rd year but his 2nd as starter. His 1st year Walsh only put him late in games. I'm old so my memories could be better.

Nice Job Lynch. Still could of used someone like McKinley at Safety or Jobe to compete at the CB position. Career practice squad player with NO potential.

We need to get another Purdy to be Purdy's backup.

Put me down with the crew that isn't that big on Brock being MVP. He's got plenty enough to worry about as is. Let him keep focused on playoff Ws, a 1st rd bye, NFCCG, SB Wins, and basically, just being fortunate enough as a rook to end up the QB on the NFL's best team. I bet MVP is NOT what Brock is focused on, exactly for the reasons mentioned above.

Also, Brock as MVP for basically just 1 1/4 seasons, despite his superb play, vs other guys having a tremendous yr PLUS they have proven themselves before, some for a number of yrs. Tyrek and McCaff are two that come to mind. We have 5 , or is it 7 all pros, including Trent, Bosa, CMC, Deebo, Fredie, et al. I discount the thot that Brock is thinking MVP because he has shown us that he is the kind of guy, much like Joe, who focuses on what is in front of him and what he is going to do about it…simply put, he is focused only on the next game, and puts his all into that.

Brock is not Joe. Joe is LEGEND and always will be. But Brock is one of those rare ones, particularly coming from where he was drafted, that is very capable of becoming his own legend. To date, he has built the kind of record , shown the kind of leadership, that those rare guys possess. I think Brock will make his own Legend, but not in Joe's mode. Joe was one of a kind and that is 40 yrs ago. I believe Brock will be one of those rarities. Sure, as Iv'e mentioned before, he has the Joe-like coolness. He has the same quickness to read a D. Already he has been throwing before the WRs breaks. He isn't a running QB, but given the right circumstance, he will run and he is great at it. He has the dink and dunk accuracy that Joe had, the great reads like Joe, but Brock has got one helluva long game too. His near 50% completions on balls traveling 35-45 yards is phenomenal. He is , like Joe, low key, and never is a smart azz showboat. He is reserved, understands he is surrounded by greatness in both players and coaches, and is about as even keeled as you could be and still play QB. Joe was my all time hero with GOAT Walsh and Jerry.

Brock will get there, but on his own , altho he does have some of the really necessary attributes like Joe. All he needs is multiple playoff Ws, SB Ws, and time. He was incredible when he first started, but he has grown into becoming a MVP candidate type QB, on America's best team. Give him time and with good health and luck, he'll make his own legend. He's got a helluva great start.

having the opinion that he is worthy of league MVP has literally no bearing on his priority or "worry" list.

you're not in favor of him being MVP just because it's not something he should be focused on? makes absolutely no sense
The kid is incredible.
Elite, or nah?
Purdy is like a machine. He sees everything. Wow.

It took 20+ years but we finally now have the heir to the Montana - Young legacy.

Purdy just managing the game there, spinning away from a free rusher and throwing a TD pass on the run to his left. Hi, Cam
