QB Brock Purdy Thread

But he is still young and I forget about that lol. I think I picked 12-5 iirc..or was it 11-6.. for the season but that was before I knew BP would recover as well as he did. Healthy, I likely would have picked higher. I knew this kind of success was definitely possible when healthy because he was this last year. Why would it change other than the injury affecting him? He has been this all along. There was a reason I got a little misty eyed (lol) after watching a couple of games with him. I knew this was going to leave an imprint on the NFL and I was damn excited he signed with the Niners. I knew we were watching something historic really. It's really special and glad I am here for it:)

Same, brotha. I predicted most things exactly right this off season. I had my optimistic thoughts (which you and I discussed many times this off season) and then I had my conservative thought because I didn't know what kind of impact the injury would have on his play this year.

i thought he could be a top 8 QB (knocking on elite) at worst and a top 4-5 qb at best. He's surpassed my expectations but just based on what he did in the regular season and especially the post season, there was no reason to doubt him. There was a ton of reasons to be super optimistic

I didn't really expect him to be mvp front runner because of how balanced our offense is, no way in hell any one predicted he would have the most efficient season of all time. Lol that's the only way to lead the league in these stats with this offense/talent - like CMC.

I can't remember if I predicted in the off season what our record would be but I remember early in I said we could go 15-2 or 14-3. We will see - I just want the 1 seed to give our guys rest and home field.

hopefully we maintain our tickets in the playoffs and don't let opposing bases like the cowboys enter

I agree. I'm more cautious than some fans and don't jump on the band wagon easily. I've seen way too many players blast off quickly only to flame out just as fast. We saw it with JG. We saw it with Kap. I liked what I saw from Brock last year but I wanted to see him do it for a full season once the league had game film on him. Then he had the elbow surgery and that was another hurdle.

Well here they are at 11-3 and Brock is having the best season of any QB in the league. Not only that but his arm looks stronger from all those rehab exercises and he seems to be getting better. He's just one of those rare players that is way better than his size and workouts would indicate. He makes up for any lack of physical traits wth determination. He is a gamer in every sense of the word.

I am not surprised about anything about BP cause, it's BP
It's been a fun, wild ride though lol

This is what I thought Lance could give us in spades, but Brock came in last pick of the draft, I can do that and do it better.

Based on what? Certainly not on anything he ever showed on the field during his time here.

It's sista:) But don't worry, I won't "strain a uterus" like Murray haha. That was hilarious. Comedy gold haha. Yeah, you defo picked higher than me 15-2 or 14-3 sounds right. For whatever reason, I picked we would lose to the Cards at least once before the season began

Lol tbf, I picked after 14-3 or 15-2 after the cowboys game.

cards always play us really well - they're dangerous and a division opponent. Their skill guys are slippery and now with Murray and his slippery ass, dangerous. It almost feels like our guys don't really take the cards that serious every year and it bites us. Lol

I always liked and support jimmy but there are probably 2-4 more games we lose this year based on jimmys mobility and ability to avoid pass rush (at this point). Like the TD to CMC where he fell down would of never happened with Jimmy.

i can feel a 3-4 TD game coming from Brock against the ravens. Our offense is hitting its strides and is healthy down the stretch here. I think we make a scene on national tv on Christmas 😈

Our window is wide open. There's no scary team out there like we faced in the 80's and 90's. Can't f**k this up!

Well let's win one first. Haha let's get it this year.

but based on how our front office has done over 7 years and Brock's rookie contract (even once it's extended - we can have a low cap # at QB for the next 4-5 years easily) - we will def be competing like the chiefs have the last 5-6 years.

i genuinely believe we are about to have a special run and can get at least 3-4 more rings in the next 8-9 years. Just need health to stay on our side.

The Ravens D is legit though they might have the best secondary and unlike allas and Philly they arent weak at LB Smith an Patrick Queen is the best duo outside of 49ers

this is going to be a tough game

Lance has the arm strength to throw to the outside from the far hash. He did it at the combine and IIRC in the preseason. Lance has the physical attributes. I'm not into slighting the young man. Lance has talent.
Usually see a player have a break out year, Purdy has steadily gotten better each game. He's starting to make those crazy accurate timed those that a saw every now and then now a couple times a game.

Didn't get to see the rise of Montana but I imagine it felt somthing like this

He threw a nice deep ball but lacked consistent accuracy and demonstrated a chronic inability to pull the trigger on throws that were there to be made. Not sure how any of that translates into making the kind of throws that Brock has shown he can make. No knock on Lance personally, he seemed like a decent kid. He just didn't show himself to be a particularly good NFL QB in his stint here. Not to say he can't turn that around, but he wouldn't be the first QB to show out in the college but not have what it takes to be a starter in the pros.

It was a little different with Montana. He had that great comeback rep at Notre Dame. He had the big comeback game against NO in 1980. When he became the starter in 1981, the Niners didn't have a lot of talent on offense. Dwight was their best receiver and the RBs were average. The young secondary with 3 rookies and Dwight Hicks were the stars that year. They terrorized the league. Then they added Dean and the pass rush became lethal. So for Montana's first SB it was more about the D during the season. He threw 3 INTs against Dallas in his first NFC title game. He only threw 3 more in his next 5 combined and none in his 4 SBs.
