A lot of the actual players and coaches around the league have spoke highly of him. It's really just the talking heads on tv who diss him.

I have yet to see anyone look at the film and not say Purdy is playing at an extremely high level.
Every week, you can go on a Youtube film review and see a bunch of plays where it's crystal clear how much he's throwing with anticipation.

That's while being TWENTY-FIRST in pass attempts. This is unreal.

PFR counts air yards starting at the line of scrimmage, not where the QB throws it. So if you're five yards behind the line you don't get the extra five yards. You only get credit for air yards beyond the line with PFR's metric. It doesn't matter as long as you're consistent.

It's hard to get used to having the best QB in the league... maybe someday it will sink in

This year it already has. If he does it a couple more years and gets a ring I'll be comfortable calling him a future Hall of Famer.

We still have to sit here and listen to Chris Collinsworth salivate over Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Herbert etc.

I'm dead serious when I say this. I wouldn't take ANY of them over Purdy. Mahomes is debatable for me but the others are no chance. Josh Allen is a turnover machine and can't pass up the stupid throws. He's Brett Favre on steroids (the turnover part). Herbert is the biggest nothing in the league. 30-32 as a starter and all we hear from Collinsworth is "look at how strong that arm is" and "the ball just comes out of his arm like a rocket!"

Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are the only ones that are actually superstar QBs.

All the other guys people fawn over are basically a version of Kaepernick or Jameis Winston.
Brock has technically accounted for 31 TDs this season (2 rushing) - so wild. Feels so good to have a damn stud.

should break 4K next week too. Unless the ravens keep him under 200 yards - tough opponent but we got this.

Same, brotha. I predicted most things exactly right this off season. I had my optimistic thoughts (which you and I discussed many times this off season) and then I had my conservative thought because I didn't know what kind of impact the injury would have on his play this year.

i thought he could be a top 8 QB (knocking on elite) at worst and a top 4-5 qb at best. He's surpassed my expectations but just based on what he did in the regular season and especially the post season, there was no reason to doubt him. There was a ton of reasons to be super optimistic

I didn't really expect him to be mvp front runner because of how balanced our offense is, no way in hell any one predicted he would have the most efficient season of all time. Lol that's the only way to lead the league in these stats with this offense/talent - like CMC.

I can't remember if I predicted in the off season what our record would be but I remember early in I said we could go 15-2 or 14-3. We will see - I just want the 1 seed to give our guys rest and home field.

hopefully we maintain our tickets in the playoffs and don't let opposing bases like the cowboys enter

Team is doing a remarkable job of keeping plays from totally breaking down...and if it does break down guys are trying to get open by working back.

smart savvy team

Also probably the biggest exhibit A to the system QB argument is Brock finding dudes when the play went to hell in a hand basket.

No system in the history of the NFL can spit out what Purdy is doing, there is no reasonable collection of skill players that can do that either. Heck we rolled with Young, Hearst, Rice and TO and could not produce this.

The next part is 100% on Kyle

The team has to keep the expectations in check and let Purdy develop on his own time line. When stuff is not working they have to hammer in the live to fight another day mentality. Purdy does not need to be trying to win the entire game on a crazy risky throw...because he has the expectation that he has too.

When it does sink in, all future QBs will be compared to him. You kind of get spoiled because of it.

I expect the gameplan to be to open up the running game with the passing game. They're most likely going to be stuffing the line of scrimmage and everyone up close - going to need to hit a few chunk plays to Aiyuk/little/deebo to open things up.

Once we get a little rhythm with that - CMC should get going and the d back up a little. We also may try some short passes to CMC to keep the downs manageable.

This award has always been controversial. The award shouldn't be called MVP. It should be Player of the Year because that's what it always comes down to. Still there are some voters who try and look at how valuable the player is and how the team would be without him. That's nearly impossible to do with any degree of accuracy. Just call it POY or outstanding player and be done with it. The Niners wouldn't be the same team without Brock but they wouldn't be the same without CMC or Deebo either. Or Kittle. Or Aiyuk. Brock is having the best year of any QB and that's easy to see.
