Yes. I have heard him bring it up. He really hammered Brock this last game about it.

I don't watch enough of JTs other videoes to know if he is like that with everyone but he's seemed to sour on Brock. Lol like he does it just because it's a lot of views but is sorta jealous of him?

idk I like JTs channel and he isn't awful but I feel like he's resented doing some of the videos on Brock

He is actually. I thought he was picking on Kyle for the longest time. Until this year when I watched a few of his other QB videos. He seems just as critical of the details and nit picks everyone's system and QB.

I think the only other videos of his I've watched were of guys who had bad days. Lol so I expected the criticism - I believe one was Justin fields. I watched it tk see what he said about fields processing.

doesn't bother me either way, I love Brock. I just find it weird how he constantly knocks things about kyles system or how Brock does something, when they're clearly two of the best at what they are doing in the league.

Just because they're the best in the league doesn't mean that things can't be pointed out, critiqued, and improved on.
Shanahan himself is famous amongst his players for being able to dissect a play and could potentially go for an hour on just one play if he wanted.

I hope he throws like 8 of them on Monday night and completes 6 for three TD's so everyone will shut up about it lol. Last year the narrative was that he avoided throwing to his left. Clearly that wasn't an issue.

It was to his right. He threw to the left twice as often as he did to the right and the efficiency wasn't as good. He corrected a lot of his tendencies this off season. His timing and accuracy on that 10 yard out to the right this year is elite. I have no doubt that at some point Brock will make that throw just like all the others.

We know Brock's tendency to go for the bigger play so we know that isn't the issue. It has nothing to do with Kyle. Brock just isn't comfortable with it. But I bet you he is practicing that corner route.

Stuff like this are the improvements that I think he will make in his game as his career goes on.
Amazing that he is an MVP candidate when you consider his first year, he was just fighting for a roster spot and was scout team QB for the bulk of the season... and then had a limited training camp going into year 2, while he was rehabbing from injury.

Exciting to see what he does in Year 3.

For sure. Brock has not reached his ceiling.

Should have kept it and made $202,000. Who would have thought in July 2023? Wow. I thought he would be good. But maybe not this good and this quick. Especially coming off the elbow injury. But here we are. The favorite for the MVP.

I mean more along the lines of "I hate how he runs 7 step drops. He should never do it. Shouldn't be part of a playbook" etc. it's one thing to say a play was poorly executed but it's another to say that the play design etc is bad.

He essentially guaranteed he will make half the profit. It's either he takes half now and doesn't have the risk anymore he he lets the finally three weeks play out and risks not getting anything. He took his winning and didn't get greedy, smart move.

he may of made more, but he also may of lost it all. A lot can happen over three weeks.

Agreed 100%. Right, left my bad. Just pointing out the absurdity of some of these criticisms.

For that critique in particular, his take is reasonable: 7 step drops are less popular these days, with teams opting for quicker drops, play action, and designed movement out of the pocket, so that teams can better protect the QB. Historically, we haven't had the best luck in terms of QB health, and it's reasonable to point out that we have play designs that do potentially expose the QB.

But I think he's fair as well. I think the last study, he pointed out that we had wide edges in our pass protection, so he said that was fine.

The only thing that annoys me in his film studies is that he constantly nags about the CMC shuffle motion out of the backfield. Complains about it weekly. At that point, why don't you find out what the reasoning is for.

I think Brock and the offense's ceiling is whatever Shanahan's ceiling is as a playcaller.
I mean this in a good way, but Brock Purdy is executing Shanahan's design as intended, and he is extending plays when, say, the pass protection isn't there.

He can definitely max out his accuracy and anticipation, and ability to read a defense. But maybe the next step is to just further improve arm strength and timing on DEEP throws.
