QB Brock Purdy Thread

I'm not terribly worried about Brock. He bounced back from a tough three-game skid earlier this season.

What I find concerning, though, is that he insists on playing hero ball as soon as the team is down. I'm certain Kyle has tried to coach that out of him. But maybe he simply can't change.

Not that worried about Purdy. Some of those were fluky tip ups. He's been good all year and last year too. Much more worried about the terrible Shanahan play calling and our horrific offensive line.

Purdy even admitted that he shouldn't have thrown that pass to Kittle that got deflected and picked because he had a feeling the flags were on the offense. Even Purdy's high-level processing will become stressed when going up against probably the best defense in league playing like they're on roids at all three levels. Mahomes was under similar fire yesterday as well. Hopefully this is something Purdy learns from quickly and will be a better QB because of because he'll have to. He wasn't much of a Houdini last night due to that front with Queen and Smith wreaking havoc behind the LOS.

He will learn from it and be better. Even Montana had some 4 interception games. One game does not make a QB. Especially a 2nd year one and that is a heck of a defense. It just wasn't our game. Regroup and play the next one.
this stinger that's 2 times in 2 weeks I believe.. an ex QB on the postgame, said he's had stingers, and BP may be dealing with this the rest of the year

going back to the benching, can we recall a QB1 out not due to injury, when the QB1 is The Guy? reminds me of the Eagles in 94. Steve was hot on that one, wonder how BP handled it, or what that convo was like. Weird situation. Maybe it will fire up the team, like in 94

The conversation isn't hard to figure out. Kyle told him he was more valuable in the next two games and playoffs than the current one. Better to stay healthy for those games and the larger goal than to risk him for a desperate comeback attempt against the Ravens.

This. Game was out of reach and we were missing our two best OL. That's all there is to it.

In 94 it was a similar convo, and SY basically told the HC to go bleep himself iirc

Yeah, there was absolutely no reason to put him back in. There wasn't going to be a comeback.

this has always been my concern with Brock and big games, or just down by multiple scores.

he and the team have yet to show the inability (this season) to come back. that has been something that's always lingered in the back of my mind during our latest win-streak for a while now, ever since the 3-game losing streak.
wait, imho your expectations are way too high. this kind of games any team will have once every month or two. Some teams are very well prepared whereas we are not. on top of that, three of four interceptions were bad luck. it happens. you can't do s**t about that.

In 94 Young was pulled much earlier without first having left the game for an injury, and therefore felt he was being singled out by Seifert as the reason for the loss. Purdy came out because he took a hit that aggrevated a previous injury, and much later in the game with at least one other key player already out (Williams) for similar reasons. Purdy obviously didn't feel singled out. Seifert wouldn't really talk to Young, while Shanahan had a fairly long conversation with Purdy. It's not exactly a 1-to-1 comparison.

Maybe 1 or 2 were bad luck. The bounce to Kittle should have not been thrown. Purdy admitted that. He also escaped a potential pick with that throw to Deebo that was behind him. Wasn't there another one as well that was dropped?
I should have known better than to read a Grant Cohn article after a game like that, but apparently one bad game (all be it very bad game) equates to the reason we do not throw the ball all over the field most games is because Brock is a turnover prone player 🙄. He was in this game for sure, but I'm not ready to label him as that. He's actually shown more consistency in not turning the ball over. We were passing more because the Ravens were showing stacked boxes to stop Christian ( switching to the pass in those situations is something that most teams tha strive for balance do). I don't know why I thought Grant would offer any kind of constructive analysis? The thing that worries me most about this game is the injuries that we accumulated. Everything is still in front of this team provided those injuries don't linger. Either way it's time to move on. It's a short week, and an early east coast start time. The Commanders offer a chance at a great "get right" game.

The kids hasn't played in that many games, he hasn't had even 5 real chances to play from behind and win. This isn't a 5-7 year vet, Purdy is and will be fine. Last night was just a bad game with an abnormal amount of errors.
In the back of our minds we're all hoping last night isn't the blueprint for Purdy.
