QB Brock Purdy Thread

Crazy how Lamar is going to win MVP all because of the Christmas Day regular season Bowl that critics are still bashing Purdy over. A game that ended up meaning absolutely nothing in the standings (both teams still clinch the #1 seed in Week 17 if you flip the result of that game).

Just goes to show you how meaningful the MVP really is

He had a good season though. The Christmas game became the deciding factor between the top two candidates at the time. It was basically like a ladder.

Lol at 5% now haha, got a warning for being a little sass about a dude saying Young was just like Dak. I get a little defensive about Young, especially, when compared to a Cowboy who continues to choke and throw INTs haha. But yeah, that was my weakness. Lol.

Lmao! That's funny, and an awful take. You have to understand the nfl landscape at the time to get better context of young in the 90s.

i think you could argue we should of won, or had a great chance, in 92/93, but those cowboy teams were insanely good.

after 95+, our team just wasn't a complete team and I think we entered a period where we didn't have top tier coaching anymore. Mike shanahan was gone. Holmgren was gone. We just didn't have the same kind of overall dominant coaching and roster at that point, IMO. Don't get me wrong - awesome team and they were really good, but those packers were STUDS and had excellent coaching.

The biggest problem was that we were paying guys like washed-up Ken Norton far more than he was worth. Salary cap hell was real. We didn't realize it at the time but things would get worse.

...all better now.

Yep, Cowboys were a damn nightmare and the Packers too. It was so cool to see Young hold up that trophy, he had been through so much and to finally see him hold it up, proud moment . I totally looked up to the guy. Still do. Nobody say anything negative about Young, cause I will be tempted to sass a bit haha

MVP should be reserved for special, a WR getting a triple crown is special, scoring in 17 straight games is special,
Heck I think Mostert having a 20 TD year is more a milestone than Lamar's year
let the non QBs get some glory, QBs already get outsized portions of blame and glory

Yea we've been through the argument.

Mostert could have 25 TDs and 1500 yards and he isn't contributing more to wins than the better QBs in the league. A player like that can win OPOY.

If the award was honest, Mahomes or Allen would get it every year. As it is, it's usually the most valuable player on a great team and that's going to be a QB the vast majority of the time. That's the nature of the sport.

Empire Strikes back
I feel like our team is going to be the most confident it's ever been heading into the super bowl. The only thing we really hadn't done was have big come from behind wins - we just had two historic ones.

now they know that no matter what the situation is, we have a chance, just keep fighting. That's much better than "we are talented and I believe we could if we had to".

so I asked about this possibility a week or two ago - wasn't sure if it was possible. Anyone know how he did on those snaps?

He had 13 coverage snaps and gave up 7 yards on 1 target.

This. We really need to tighten up on defense though. We can't let them run all kinds yards/ points on us. It was nice to see Chase a bit more active and beastly out there. More of that please.
These are such great photos, can't get a bigger smile.

Looks a lot like his dad in the first photo, a lot more than John H. Haha.
