Also, there's not really 'luck' involved in that play. The defender took his eye off the ball, allowed it to go right through his hands and then bounce off his helmet. Brandon then reacted incredibly quickly. That's bad play by them and good play by us.

I've watched it a bunch of times and I really can't tell if Brock overthrew him or BA got held up right before.

The double standards and one sided standards they use for Purdy are impossible to find in NFL history. They call the bounce off the facemask a bad play. First it was probably interference. But I believe they picked up the flag. Anyway Aiyuk caught it. But the emaculate reception is considered an outstanding play. Which lead to a Playoff win. It's totally a freak play. Very lucky. But you get a bounce sometimes in the NFL.

Second we were behind. So sometimes you take a shot. People don't understand this. In hopes that you get pass interference or a lucky bounce like that. You are pressing the ball down the field when down a lot to catch up. So a play like this is somewhat forced and not a normal read. You are hoping for exactly that. A lucky bounce which you sometimes get. There are times in a game in certain games to do that.

Great post. Luck is always a factor, and sure we got some bounces. That's a part of the game of football. We made a lot of plays also. I do think it would be shortsighted to focus entirely on one or two 'luck' plays, and ignore the good we did to overcome in the 2nd half and win. BP maybe the play of his game, was escaping a clear sack, and throwing a seed to Juice. That prevents us being well behind the sticks. He hung in also on another rep, to complete a pass while taking a huge hit. He had his scrambles. I think folks who don't watch a lot of 49er football, Brock showcased just how athletic he is. Ppl who assume he's not athletic, cuz he's pick 262, I'm sure a lot of them found out.

Yes I agree with those. You are right.
Tom Brady was praising Brock on his "Let's go! Podcast"!!! Hell yeah. We have the next Brady baby

Looking at the way Brady behaved, and the way Purdy behaves, I don't know if it's a "chip on the shoulder" thing all the time. Brady might have gone that route, but Purdy seems to be more of a "everything happens for a reason, I'm the QB for the 49ers, and I'll do my best to help my team win" approach. Sometimes, it's just that simple.

With all due respect, I'm not sure what you've been watching. There's clearly bump contact around 2 seconds before the ball arrives.

The contact is incidental, if you listen to JTO on his breakdown. He mentions the positioning of the DB and him having every right to play a ball in air as the WR. There is no flag on the play. A flag is on the field, yet ultimately no penalty was called.
I think sometimes we forget that we put an insane amount of pressure and expectations on Brock, an amount that would of been a lot for a 10 year vet, which was super bowl or busts we put that pressure on a second year player with 7 games under his belt and coming off a very serious injury.

it is absolutely insane how well he's handled the pressure and expectation and met them so far.

i feel like he doesn't get the appreciation he should because it's nuts. THIS IS HIS SECOND YEAR AND FIRST YEAR STARTING. SEVENTH ROUND PICK!

this guy is a gem. Unbelievable.

Yeah, Brady took the "angry" route and Brock has taken the "grateful" route - I think both are generating the same thing but through different emotions - cause don't get it twisted, Brock wants to prove everyone wrong and prove the 49ers right.

let's see how this game goes but we may be the team that prevents pat from catching Brady. Especially if this is Reid's last rodeo. I think Reid will stick around a few more years though.

I said more or less the same thing a few posts back. I'd say its more of a 50/50 call as he deviates his route into Aiyuks path, but I can't really disagree with the no call.

Edit - my comment here was about the quality of Purdy's weight of pass.

In some player interviews, they've said "we will go as far as Brock takes us". I think it was Warner or Kittle. So the players are not shy saying it to the public. I'm a little surprised by how honest they are saying that. I think they know Brock can handle the pressure, otherwise they'd protect him.

they just trust him and believe in him as do I. but if things go wrong, i do get upset, then realize that i'm more upset at the situation (our window) then the player.

It's impressive but other than Brady those guys came into the league as very high picks meaning their team sucked and was a lot worse than one QB away from making the playoffs.

I love me some Brock but he did come into a very fortunate situation. He was suppose to be the practice squad guy though lol.

However i guess it's still impressive bc 2 year guys are still viewed as young QB and are given a leash by the media. Brock has to be perfect to get any recognition.
Stop downplaying Brock. Both Josh Allen and Mahomes came to playoff teams.
