Interesting phrase, would never be used for Allen/Mahomes/Burrow or Herbert or Jackson. Somewhere deep down, he along with other DCs in the NFL think he is a product of the system.
Ok.
This is a reach if I have ever seen one. The guy just finished his 1st full season as a starter and many media members and fans debate how good he is. Him saying Brock "is for real" isn't a slight nor can you draw something from it other than a compliment. He wouldn't say it for the QBs you named because they are more establiahed, obviously.

Remember when Brock's arm was injured, and he said, "It's part of God's plan." Brock was then asked about His plan, and he said, "Don't know yet." We're all finding out now.

If he played better in the first half they wouldn't have needed a crazy rally in the second. If you let KC get up like that and struggle to do anything on offense for an entire half, the game is over.
He's got to be better, from start to finish is all I'm saying.
No way. Our DEFENSE put us in that position. Jogging around. Not full speed. Don't want to hit anybody or get dirty. Their effort and tackling was horrendous. That was our deficit.

This. It's only the media that's been showing that disrespect. If any DC is left that underestimates Purdy, he's not worth s**t. Spagnuolo isn't that guy.

What to expect from Brock Purdy vs. Chiefs
Purdy is going to face a test against a Chiefs defense that has been great for most of the season and is heating up at the right time. Opponents have just six passing touchdowns in Kansas City's past six games and are completing 64.7 percent of their passes for 219.3 yards per game with an average passer rating of 88.2.
Those numbers closely align with what Purdy has posted against top-eight NFL defenses this year, as he averages 213 passing yards per game against them with a passer rating of 85.1. Thus, it's fair to expect that he will probably have a similar stat line with one or two passing touchdowns and perhaps interceptions.
If Purdy can put together that kind of performance, it would certainly be respectable, but would it be enough for the 49ers to outduel Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl? Probably not.
The Chiefs allowed just 17.3 points per game during the regular season and are allowing 13.7 per game in the postseason. So, barring a stellar effort from either Christian McCaffrey or the 49ers defense to help close the scoring gap between the two teams, Purdy will have to outperform his averages in this tough matchup to take home a Lombardi Trophy for the first time.

After watching the games against Detroit and Green Bay, my opinion has changed from he's not as good as Joe Montana yet,,,, to, ok he's there.I've seen what I needed to see. No matter what happens in the Super Bowl, Purdy is the QB for the Niners of today. He's got Shanahan's game plan and Griese in his ear. Together-they make a Bill Walsh. If he don't have some major injury happen, he's THE GUY. When you see Purdy, you say NINERS! It's no longer can Purdy be as good as Joe, it's,,,,here comes Purdy, look out!

Agreed with this. If anything it's a dig at the idiots (eh hmm Cam Newton, Ryan Clark, Nick Wright, etc) who continue to bash Purdy for no reason.

Look, last year he was a surprise Cinderella and it was cool story -- plucky, over-looked prospect making good. But this year, it became 'tear down Purdy' because he didn't regress like they said he would. They were clear he was going to regress heavily and have his football carriage turn into a pumpkin . He was rated, by 'The Experts' in the 20s as a QB. Some even had JimmyG and some other rather marginal QBs ahead of Purdy!!! So they had to have a new narrative as he kept proving them wrong. Just for comparison's sake, it took Tom Brady SIX YEARS to get where Purdy is now.

Normally not a huge proponent of blocking folks, but think we need to expand the block function for at least this week
