Lord knows we have watched guys do less with more

If they can figure out how to keep teams from taking away that bread and butter deep crossing stuff they like to throw, plus mix in some deep connections he will be a 300-400 yard passer week in and week out.

I think it is absolutely critical that he keeps taking those shots. Yes, a bit smarter, but in my mind that shows command. It also means, regardless of whether it is with this version of the team or not, we have a chance with #13 back there.

It is kinda funny that he went a week with guys saying "just throw it deep to Aiyuk even if you're not sure of the coverage" and this week he did just that and was picked. If I was big on conspiracy theories I'd almost think he did it to prove a point about wanting to be sure where the defenders are before chucking it deep.

It's actually not different. You say he was wide open, and he was. Brock did not have the benefit of knowing that at the time.

The play vs NE he was not doubled. The DB on the outside drifted to that area. Brock didnt see him. Brock didnt see where the rams safety was either.

I didnt have nearly the issue with Brock making a mistake there than you clearly do. It was kind of like a heat check 3 point shot attempt.

First of all, I said Purdy had a good game and proved himself with multiple deep shots. I'm just criticizing a really bad decision that could've cost us against a better team.

Second of all, I was criticizing the interception because a 14-point lead in field goal range early in the 4th is an absurdly bad time to throw one. A 17-point lead basically seals the win and all he had to do at that point was not turn it over. I get doing that with a 17-point lead, or even a 12-point lead, but a 14-point lead on 2nd down is just a colossally stupid time to throw it at high risk of the other team getting it. I'm sitting on the couch with no experience and know that taking a 5 or even 10-yard sack is 10x better in that situation. I would hope he does.

The offense is going to have to carry this year. I don't see any way around it as players continue to get acclimated with their new DC HC.

I think the days of the 300-400 yard passer are dwindling away. I'm not saying they won't happen anymore, but QBs are throwing a historically low number of yards this year. It's all about a good run game, deceptive reverses, short passing game to create yac. Alot of teams are mimicking each other. Even Mahomes hasn't hit 300 yards this season yet. I think scoring and the total number of TDs are historically low as well.

Maybe everyone sucks and we are living in the post legends era? Are we watching extremely mid football being played by almost everyone?

The consensus second and third-best QBs in the league are probably Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. The consensus best QB in the NFC is either Dak, Purdy or a 36-year-old Stafford.

I always thought Andrew Luck was a tad overrated, but there's a good chance he's considered a top 3 QB in the league if he's still playing.

I definitely think this all says something about QB play around the league. The days of Brady-Manning-Brees-Rodgers are long gone.

Yea at one point it was Both Mannings, Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, Kurt Warner, Philip Rivers who was just pure entertainment, and several others.

Todays Top 5 sucks. Barely anyone even has a SB besides Pat. My list is Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Purdy, and Stroud. None of them besides Pat have a historic playoff win let alone a SB. The days of the legendary QBs are gone

2023 NFC Championship was definitely a historic playoff win for Purdy. Coming back down 17 in the 3rd quarter is pretty nuts—even our 2012 NFC Championship win the comeback started early in the 2nd quarter. Also I know they're not on your list but Stafford obviously has the Super Bowl win, and Burrow is the only non-Brady QB to beat Mahomes in a playoff game (2021 AFC Championship). Idk if we can still count Rodgers but he's got some from a long time ago, too. I don't think anyone respects either of Hurts' playoff wins lol, and Dak has never made it past the Divisional round.

We were talking about QB rankings and where Purdy fits in, and how the current state of the league doesn't seem to have as good of QB play, thus "inflating" Purdy's current ranking.

It's like the pundits and critics don't actually watch him play. Because none of their arguments make any sense if you really do watch him.
