QB Brock Purdy Thread

But if you mean, will he be able to be Mahomes, a physical marvel? Not quite. However, he can move, so it's not like his physical boundary is Peyton Manning. It's higher than that.

But yeah, his ceiling is as high as he makes it, for sure.

The biggest thing for him, and this goes for every young QB that plays well out of the gate is that eventually defenses will adjust to him, hone in on his perceived weaknesses and how he responds to that, how he's able to adapt to continue to remain successful will be what determines how high he can go as a quarterback. The history of the NFL is full of QBs that looked really promising for 10-20 games and then fizzled out once the NFL had figured them out.

Even Drew Brees had his fair share of struggles before he really got on a roll and I imagine even in the best case scenario, you'd still see Purdy have some really lousy games, people will just have to be patient, as long as he appears to be making progress, there isn't any limit.

He's a tad short by todays standards but idgaf.

Good point. I agree. But, it also appears that he knows this and is able to slide around and compensate. He is one smart cookie and very cool under pressure.

Who would have guessed that the 2022 draft would be Kyle Shanahan at his most brilliant? No first round pick? No problem! Picking last or near last at the end of each round? Again, not a problem.

This is how legendary teams are built.

Exactly. It's a natural thing for him at this point. It probably even aids his 10 yard split and pocket awareness/feel and mobility.

I saw a perfect example last game when he slid to his right into a passing window and of course, there was CMC for a 9 yard check down gain.

I do think the reverse is true too. The shorter route receivers will want to be like those signs on semi-trucks: "If you can see me in my mirror, I can see you." And Foerster is really going to have to drive home OL staying engaged with the DL to keep those passing windows open and prevent knockdowns.

Yeah, the draft was outstanding.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere in here but it's certainly worth checking out if you haven't seen it. The kid is a real gamer.

That jersey color and number and that crazy throw, I thought that was Patrick Maholmes for a second.

Purdy has me f**king hyped to watch him every Sunday. It's been awhile since I felt like this about our QB.

Odds that Brock is the starter opening day 2023?

Time is the real test of greatness. I've seen players in all sports be great for a few games or even a couple of seasons. The true greats are good over and over for 5, 19, 15 years. You can find QBs that were better than Brady or Montana for a season but not over 10 years or more.

The only other time recently was during Jimmy's run at the end of the 2017 season. But most times, I'm actually more pumped to watch our D throttle fools.
