QB Brock Purdy Thread

This is the kind of data that opposing teams could use against BCB -

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/charts/player/2022/brock-purdy/PUR243289/2022/all/qb-grid

Flood/lock down the left side and force him to throw to the right. Not saying he can't, just that he has not been as successful doing so this year.

Will Kyle do a trick play where Brock catches it for a TD?

Or they could just beat McG

That's a given.

Time is the real test of greatness. I've seen players in all sports be great for a few games or even a couple of seasons. The true greats are good over and over for 5, 19, 15 years. You can find QBs that were better than Brady or Montana for a season but not over 10 years or more.

What are you getting at here? We gotta wait for a decade before we decide if Purdy is the QBOTF?

No but we've still got a small sample size. You could fill a large room with QBs or players at any position who flashed greatness for a few games and then settled into a more middle of the road player. I was responding to (and agreeing) a comment posted by Phoenix. You just can' decide that a QB is great or a bust based on 4 games. Even a season often isn't enough for a full evaluation.

Players develop at different speeds. Some are near their ceiling when the come out of college. Others a still learning a position. Some had good coaching and others had terrible coaching. Purdy is obviously better than Trey in terms of overall understanding of the position. He's ready now but hiw much better can he get. Everyone has their limits. In his case it's physical. He understands the game and recognizes defenses. Other than knowing hs receivers better there isn't much more he can do to get better.

Trey is the exact opposite. Everything Purdy has now Trey needs to learn. On the other hand, everything Trey has like athleticism and a strong arm can't be learned. Trey has a lot of room for impriovement where Brock might be about as good as he will ever be. That looks good right now but only time will tell if he can continue it.

I remember how excited fans were after Kap's first few games. Same with Jimmy G.

Could it have something to do with not having Deebo for the past 2.5 games? Doesn't he typically line up on the right side when not in the backfield?

With no gloves.

Purdy makes everything look easy, even the one handed catch.

Beautiful trick play. CMC the QB, BCB, runs the wheel route for the TD.

KS might draw up a pass play from Lance to Purdy next year....

forcing him to throw to a particular side is easier said than done, esp with shanny schemin

A playoff road game can be a very big challenge.

I think him and KYLE will recognize what defenses are going to try to do and at least have a plan of action.

A rediscovery of the run game with Elijah coming back could be the game changer

Good find. I love that we're looking at possible areas for improvements already.

so not only does he manipulate defenders with both eyes and his feet, but he can glitch out of the matrix...good lawd.

LOL stop being such a passive aggressive Lanceling. He is yesterday's man now and wont be coming good this season or next.
